The Quality, Evidence & Learning department promotes the implementation of internal and international quality standards in humanitarian aid and development cooperation. We provide guidance on important aspects of our work and offer advice in the core sectors of our work, project cycle management and operational support. We also organize training and learning events in the form of online webinars, face-to-face trainings and regional learning fora.
To support and further develop our work in the area of logistics in our HQ, our warehouse in Oestrich-Winkel and our worldwide locations, we are looking for a Global Logistics Advisor.
As Global Logistics Advisor you will advise and support project locations and/or implementing partners in procurement, inventory, warehouse, and fleet management. In our HQ in Cologne, you will need to ensure compliance with existing standards, to guarantee harmonized smooth workflows and to implement clear and efficient logistics processes. In the context of humanitarian crises, you lead the logistical preparation, implementation and follow-up of Malteser International’s emergency relief operations.
- Responsibility for overall logistics at Malteser International HQ in Cologne in cooperation with the respective departments at the Malteser Hilfsdienst: warehouse management, tenders, efficient procurement processes and framework contracts
- Logistical preparation and follow-up of emergency relief missions and, if necessary, conducting assessments in the countries of operations
- Carrying out procurements and organizing the transport of relief supplies to the field operations, if necessary
- Advising and training the MI locations and local logistics staff as well as partner organizations in the regions in the area of logistics (tendering, procurement, inventory, warehouse and fleet management, etc.)
- Updating and further developing MI logistics manuals, standards and innovations in logistics (supply chains, climate-neutral logistics, digitalization, logistics in MI’s Emergency Medical Team, etc.)
- Representation of MI in international and national networks in the field of logistics (Global Logistic Cluster, UNHRD etc.)
Your profile:
- Relevant training or corresponding (university) degree in the field of logistics
- At least 4 years of professional experience in humanitarian aid and international cooperation
- Sound knowledge of tendering and procurement procedures as well as inventory, warehouse and fleet management
- Knowledge of the Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) procedures desirable
- Team-orientated colleague who values open discourse, excels at active listening and adapting solutions to individual challenges
- Business fluent in English and German; additional language skills (French and Spanish) are an advantage
- Readiness to travel to MI project locations, incl. short-term assignments in crisis and disaster areas with difficult security situations
