ABOUT THE ROLE

The Global Activism team leads on pioneering campaigning and activism approaches, tools and tactics to strengthen activism communities and diversify the AI movement for human rights impact. This role will be developing tools and processes to support Amnesty International to become a People Power organisation. Will work closely to other key stakeholders to implement projects focussing on People Power.

JOB PURPOSE

To develop, manage, support and deliver key projects to make Amnesty International a People Power movement. This involves the development of People Power tools and processes to share with the Amnesty International movement. This post provides expert campaigning and activism advice on People Power to the movement and leads/advises on the development and implementation of People Power strategies.

ABOUT YOU

You need to be an enthusiast expert on activism, with an extensive experience on People Power movements and on People Power approaches. You need to have good capacity building and communication skills. You need to be a good team player, in order to work across teams and themes. Ultimately you need to be driven by making an impact on human rights through effective campaigning and activism.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead on the design and delivery of a programme of capacity building in activism and on People Power approaches to campaigning.
  • Provide professional and strategic advice to researchers, campaigners, and other colleagues across the movement on People Power approaches, strategies, techniques, and materials, as well as on working with people power movements.
  • Create guidelines, policies, tools, and materials related to People Power.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience of working with grassroots movements and using participatory approaches in their work.
  • Extensive experience in leading the development of, and coordinating the implementation of, campaigning strategies at national or international level, including people power campaigns.
  • Experience in capacity building and facilitation, including designing and delivering workshops and training on activism or campaigning.
