Job Description:

Prepositioning

  • Support VSO’s prepositioning with potential strategic partners including donors using VSO practice technical evidence in health for policy and V4D leadership advancement.
  • Maintain an up-to-date relevant knowledge of practice through participation in relevant external events and fora to explore new innovate ideas to build a strong VSO’s practice in health or partnership in the technical area

Design

  • Lead on the technical content of all designs in the health practice area through providing clear useable content from VSO’s practice for the robust technical elements of any kind design (concept notes, proposals, project re-design, etc.).
  • Develop programme models for VSO’s health practice utilizing the Volunteering for Development methodology.
  • Introduce new practice and thinking into the thematic application of Volunteering for Development practice (to inform VSO health projects on an iterative basis)

Delivery

  • Provide technical accompaniment, mentoring and capacity building of the technical project team members towards building a strong global health portfolio
  • Lead on the technical alignment between the projects and the global health portfolio through the portfolio accountability platforms and Community of Practice

Learning and Evidence

  • Build and own the Practice Area learning and evidence for Volunteering for Development in VSO’s practice and projects in line with the global health portfolio Theory of Change
  • Lead the development of a range of external positioning materials, blogs, presentations, leadership papers, articles, etc. generated from VSO project evidence and practice and wider technical input
  • Facilitate learning across VSO by providing technical input to learning content and internal communications
  • Produce technical thematic contributions to VSO’s annual and other reporting requirements, including the portfolio review.
  • Lead on the facilitation and coordination of the Community of Practice to introduce/discuss new thinking in our Health Practice, learning and evidence generated through the programme and debate improved ways of working towards advancing our global health portfolio

Represent VSO externally and internally, in line with our organisational priorities through values and evidence-based influencing, partnership and alliance building for technical leadership.
