Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organisation. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

OVERVIEW

Nonviolent Peaceforce is the world’s leading implementer of Unarmed Civilian Protection programming designed to interrupt violence and increase the safety and security of civilians impacted by conflict and systemic oppression.

Ensuring highly effective training in UCP for staff is essential for achieving impact through programming. This is a specialized approach to protection of civilians through the implementation of unarmed, civilian led strategies therefore bespoke, internal training is needed regardless of other professional skills and education.

JOB SUMMARY

NP is seeking a candidate for employment for what is imagined as a 24 month contract to serve as lead trainer implementing the updated UCP Foundational Training curriculum across the organization’s areas of operation, developing advanced training modules for ongoing skills development and building a pool of certified UFT certified trainers and a sustainable approach to maintaining ongoing training saturation and finally to build a programme for providing UCP Foundational Training for external stakeholder.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Internally Facing:

The GTM is responsible to ensure that all staff, across NP are trained in the UCP concepts, values and skills to the level required by their respective positions.

This will include the following elements:

UCP Foundational Training

  • Direct implementation of UCP foundational and advanced training for NP staff
  • Conduct organizational wide training audit, identifying gaps to inform priority scheduling.
  • In conjunction with senior management teams in countries of operation, schedule, and plan UFTs for a 24-month cycle

Development of Advanced Training Modules

  • Develop programme for advancing UCP skills development.
  • Design mixed delivery curriculum, including options for online and in-person.
  • Implement a full cycle of advanced training modules, testing efficacy and adjusting accordingly.

Training Skills Development

  • Develop guidance and training materials articulating NP’s approach to training
  • Create internal skills development programme

Creation of UCP Foundational Training Pool

  • Develop programme and curriculum for comprehensive Training of Trainers programme that when completed will allow participants to become certified UFT trainers.
  • Elements for programme to include selection criteria and participant commitment and expectations.
  • Lead candidate selection and implement ToT training

Externally Facing:

UCP training for a wide range of stakeholders from persons impacted by violence to individuals and organizations working on violence reduction is a core to most UCP projects implemented in country programmes. To support the scaling out of UCP, the GTM will creation of a standalone UCP training programme.

Design of Business Plan for Providing UCP Training for External Stakeholders

  • Develop a financially sustainable model for external training delivery, mapping out pricing, participant
  • Create a set of training curricula options (intro, short and comprehensive) to suit external stakeholder needs
  • Create a comprehensive marketing plan to promote and attract external partners.
  • Build out training pool of trainers who can deliver to various stakeholder market

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience designing and implementing UCP training
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and assessing training programs to diverse, multicultural groups in dynamic, complex contexts.
  • Proven experience training and mentoring future candidates to become trainers.
  • Expertise in curriculum development and instructional design methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to create business plans, including cost analysis and revenue forecasting.
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and experience working in conflict-affected or fragile contexts is highly desirable.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of trainers.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Flexibility to travel nationally or internationally, as required.
