Governance Coordinator At DAI Global

Project Background:

The Bangladesh Systems Strengthening for One Health (SSOH) aims to enhance Bangladesh’s global health security (GHS) capacity to operate a high functioning and equitable One Health (OH) disease detection system that prevents, detects, and responds to new and emerging infectious and endemic zoonotic diseases, while ensuring good One Health governance and reducing risks of irreversible antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Through an evidence-informed and integrated systems approach, SSOH will strengthen Bangladesh’s One Health Systems and enhance the country’s capacity to prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from infectious disease threats. The activity aims to achieve results under the following development objectives:

  1. Strengthen Systems for Better One Health Governance across the Government of Bangladesh (GOB).
  2. Strengthen One Health Disease Detection Systems for effective prevention, detection and response.
  3. Reduce Threats of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across OH sectors.

Role’s Purpose:

The Governance Coordinator will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and will report directly to the Public Health Lead (PHTL). The Governance Coordinator will manage the support to the OH Secretariat to strengthen efficiency and institutionalization of OH governance. This role will also support the expansion of OH governance to sub-national levels, ensuring there is inclusive engagement across OH governance and coordination, collaboration, and communication with the national OH Secretariat.

Key duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Political Economy Analysis (PEA)-informed advocacy efforts with OH line ministries to enhance governance, protocols, and resourcing of the One Health System.
  • Provide and coordinate tailored technical assistance to improve performance standards and operational functionality of the OH Secretariat.
  • Provides technical assistance within the team to support harmonization and integration of guidance, policies, standard operating procedures, and validation of documentation within GOB and other stakeholder entities across technical areas.
  • Coordinates sectoral and cross-sectoral learning activities with USAID, GOB, other stakeholders, and SSOH technical and MEL staff to sensitize relevant stakeholders to existing, revised, and new governance policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Coordinates with the public sector and consortium partners to provide technical assistance to surveillance sites for AMR across technical areas.
  • Support Technical Leads to prepare the monthly and quarterly reports on activity progress or other interim, case studies, etc., in collaboration with other technical staff.
  • In addition, it may be needed to perform additional activities within the SSOH activities, if felt necessary by the COP and PHTL.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public health, or other relevant area. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least nine years of experience working in related programming, including experience developing, implementing, and building capacity in operational policies and operationalization plans; experience working in global health security strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams with diverse stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Proven project management experience with sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Previous experience working on USG or other bilateral and multilateral organization projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language skills.

Reporting

The Governance Coordinator will report to the Public Health Lead (PHTL).
