Project Summary
The goal of this Activity is to improve the quality and sustainability of water and sanitation services for rural residents in Sikasso, Bougouni, and Koutiala Regions, including the underserved and most vulnerable, by building the capacity of key stakeholders to construct, maintain, and sustainably manage safe and reliable water and sanitation systems, as well as to develop and implement Commune-level Sanitation Strategic Plans.
Reporting & Supervision:
This position reports to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).
Responsibilities
The Governance Specialist will provide technical leadership over all aspects of improving governance and strengthening capacity for sustainable water and sanitation delivery in target regions, including at the Commune**Qualifications**
- Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in the social sciences or another field related to governance systems;
- At least ten (10) years of demonstrated technical expertise, with substantial developing country context experience, in governance and local participation;
- At least five (5) years of demonstrated experience in a technical leader position on a USAID or USG-funded governance activity in a context similar to Mali, in a combination of the following technical areas: community participation, rural WASH, behavior change, governance, institutional development, and private sector engagement;
- Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of government and civil society counterparts; and
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
