Overview

The General Board of Global Ministries is the worldwide mission, relief, and development agency of The United Methodist Church, working with partners and churches in more than 115 countries to equip and transform people and places for God’s mission. Global Ministries connects the church in mission through the sending of missionaries, evangelism and church revitalization, disaster response and recovery led by the United Methodist Committee on Relief, and global health.

Job Summary

The Grant Systems Manager will coordinate across all granting units of Global Ministries to identify, develop, and implement user-friendly outbound grant management systems to support the work of both internal stakeholders and external grantees. Such systems will eventually serve as the platform for grantees submitting applications, application review and approvals, application tracking, grant disbursements and tracking, reporting, and other elements as needed for the grantor (outbound grant) management process. The Grant Systems Manager will work closely with the Director of Grants and key grant management staff across the organization to refine the grant systems and process and ensure that all business systems related to granting are developed to be efficient and streamlined. The Grant Systems Manager will drive business analysis processes in the development of grants management systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Leads ongoing reviews of grants management systems to identify and develop optimal systems and processes to fit the specific needs of multiple granting programs.
  • Works with internal stakeholders and external grantees, where appropriate, to assess future business needs for grants systems and processes.
  • Trains internal stakeholders and coaches external grantees on the use of grant management systems and designs tools to support system comprehension by a diverse group of users.
  • Carries out regular reporting on grant applications, statuses, awards, and outcomes.
  • Manages day-to-day grant system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in nonprofit or foundation work.
  • Experience with outbound grants management, especially grant management systems.
  • Experience with data management and CRMs, especially systems with grant management capacity.

Competencies, Job Requirements, and Other Specialized Knowledge

  • Proficiency and experience in grant management platforms (including but not limited to Salesforce, Fluxx, Foundant, SmartSimple, and/or SurveyMonkey Apply).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially an advanced level Excel. Excel proficiency should include, as a baseline, the ability to write advanced functions, to easily navigate and interpret data through pivot tables, graphs/charts, and basic dashboards.
  • Prior experience managing SurveyMonkey Apply a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to gather and document business user requirements and interpret needs to developers.
  • Ability to research system capabilities and make recommendations based on internal requirements.

Work Hours and Conditions

  • FLSA Status: F/T Exempt
  • May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during peak unit season.
  • Sedentary office/computer/keyboarding/meeting work for extended periods of time.
  • Travel as required.

  • Salary: $60,730 – $97,169.
