Role Description

As the Grants and Reporting Specialist, you’ll accelerate your fundraising career at a fast-growing organization that uses a data-informed approach to help last-mile communities in Sub-Saharan Africa build household incomes.

The Grants and Reporting Specialist will be responsible for reporting on and managing grants for restricted and unrestricted grants across governmental, philanthropic, major donor, and CSR partners. You are someone who is comfortable with interpreting and effectively communicating the impact of our programs with advanced data analytics, is able to build compelling narrative, and can develop and nurture robust workflows between Partnerships and cross-departmental teams. You will work closely with the Implementation, Finance, Planning Evaluation and Learning, and Communications teams to lead compliance with grant terms, manage information flow, impact reporting, and support proposals. You will cultivate a culture of improvement and learning. Primarily in an internal-facing role, you will work directly with the Associate Director of Grants Management and Partnerships Coordinators and, in coordination with the Director of Strategic Partnerships, play an integral role in contributing to the organization’s ambitious impact and growth strategy.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, a strong writer comfortable producing polished deliverables for various audiences, and a solutions-oriented problem solver who doesn’t shy away from a challenge. You excel at coordinating detail-oriented projects in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable managing multiple priorities. The candidate enjoys analyzing programmatic output and impact data and translating complex concepts into compelling reports and proposals for RTV’s diverse funding partners and is equally comfortable crafting compelling impact stories, Logic Models, Performance Measurement Frameworks, and financial reports.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting and Compliance

  • Manage and coordinate philanthropic, government, and institutional grant reporting throughout the grant lifecycle.
  • Manage reporting timelines and write high quality reports for submission to funding partners.
  • Compile programmatic and operational reports and review financial reports, work plans, time sheets, data, and other relevant documentation required for grant reporting and contract management.
  • Support project monitoring, including tracking performance on outcome and output indicators, and support performance improvement plans with the Implementation team.
  • Advise and support the leadership team and staff regarding grant startup and grant management issues and provide ongoing knowledge translation related to grant and reporting compliance.

Knowledge Mobilization and Process Development

  • Serve as the liaison between Implementation, Planning, Evaluation & Learning (PEAL), Finance, and Knowledge Management teams to coordinate all data and critical insights required for reporting and partner engagement.
  • Assure partnerships due diligence procedures are in place and utilized.
  • Support improvements in Partnerships’ processes and update systems, knowledge bases, and manuals to ensure organizational readiness, including CRM reporting, grant writing and reporting, and grant management.

Other Duties

  • Support Partnerships strategy development
  • Develop grant proposals and manage timely submission for government, multilateral, and other restricted and unrestricted funding opportunities as assigned.
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this role.

Skills and Expertise

Essential:

  • Eligible to work in Canada for any employer
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Five to eight (5 to 8) years of previous experience in nonprofit organizations.
  • International experience is an asset
  • Working on complex and data-informed programs funded by restricted funding partners. Experience in government grants/partnership is an added value.
  • Extensive experience in grants and/or program management, proposal writing, and coordination.
  • Demonstrated understanding of philanthropic and institutional funding agencies’ interests, needs, and trends.
  • Strong report writer, able to produce precise, concise, and tailored reports and progress documents for multiple audiences.
  • Proven experience coordinating reporting deliverables across multiple stakeholders and with leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, including demonstrable experience in clear and concise writing and speaking, and with attention to detail for multiple audiences.
  • Strong understanding of programs, Logic Models, Performance Measurement Frameworks, Results-based Management, and Monitoring & Evaluation processes and high proficiency in data analysis.
  • Works well under pressure, with the ability and confidence needed to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects
  • Excellent working knowledge of GSuite and MS Office suite, including proven experience in maintaining complex spreadsheets and using databases.
  • Experience with CRM systems, with a preference for Salesforce.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable working across teams and departments in a multicultural setting and in different time zones.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with research and financial analysis.
  • Experience in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Experience in a growth-focused “start-up” nonprofit environment

Compensation & Growth

Hiring Range: $70,000 – $90,000 CAD commensurate with experience

In addition to a starting salary commensurate with your experience, you’ll receive a compensation package including health benefits, an optional Group RRSP (Canada)/401k Retirement Plan(US), and a four-week vacation in accordance with our policies.
