Our mission in the DRC has existed since 2001. PUI is developing its integrated approach with primary health and malnutrition control projects. PUI is involved in Ituri with health and nutrition projects, and in North Kivu through an integrated approach in emergency health and nutrition supplemented by food security activities.

And the Grants Coordinator in all this?

As Grants Coordinator, you will ensure accountability for PUI’s programs. You will ensure that grant proposals, donor reports and internal reports respond to identified needs in the country and are consistent with PUI’s overall strategy. In addition, you will work to produce quality and timely documentation in line with donor requirements and organizational guidelines, contributing to a constant process of learning and capacity building, particularly to strengthen the capacities of national staff.

For this, you will be responsible for:

  • Funding Strategy: You will contribute to the development of the fundraising strategy for the entire national program by assessing existing funding sources in the country and donor strategies.

  • Internal Reporting, Institutional Knowledge Management and Capacity Building: You will be responsible for monitoring calls for proposals and funding awards to ensure well-designed projects, quality funding requests and reporting submissions to donors, as well as donor and sub-award compliance for all projects.

The challenges that await you:

The major challenges of this position are: 1) Optimization of the grant development and management process (short deadlines and multi-base projects, involvement of operational bases and Technical Coordinators for a smoother process) 2) Strengthening the capacities of field teams (in particular project managers) on project development. 3) Implement a development strategy (mapping of financing opportunities and prospecting of potential donors) in line with the Mission strategy.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Education: You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field related to project management, international development and/or social sciences.
  • Experience : You have at least two years of experience in an NGO in grant management, program development or grant compliance. Have you worked with Première Urgence Internationale before? This would be a definite asset!
  • Skills : You demonstrate good skills in writing and coordinating high quality proposals for major donors and demonstrate knowledge of the rules and regulations of major institutional donors (e.g. ECHO, BPRM, ECHO, DFID, CDC, AFD, UNICEF and UNHCR). You are able to draft, review and edit narrative and financial reports and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Qualities : You are able to work autonomously, take responsibility in a proactive approach to make proposals and identify solutions. You are motivated, flexible and adaptable to the needs of teams and the organization, and you demonstrate a strong commitment to humanitarian principles. You demonstrate diplomacy and open-mindedness, resistance to stress and an ability to manage priorities and varied workloads. You have good analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills and are able to ensure effective and timely results. You also have the ability to integrate into the local environment, taking into account its political, economic and historical characteristics.
  • Languages : French has no secrets for you? All the better, it is mandatory for this position.

A word from the manager

“PUI RDC has been operational in the DRC since 2001, but remains a very dynamic mission, reflecting the context of the DRC. The Grants Coordinator plays an important role in the development of a financing strategy and the effective management of current grants. If you have these skills, your place is within this dynamic team.”
