Grants Management Specialist At Danish Refugee Council

Overall purpose of the role:

In DR Congo, DRC provides emergency support to displaced persons through the provision of Protection, Education, Shelter, and other services. DRC also works to address the root causes of conflict and support durable solutions for conflict-affected populations. This role will oversee grant management, support liaison with external stakeholders, and support MEAL and protection mainstreaming in programme activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the timely drafting of donor reports with programme staff and collection of relevant data with the MEAL team.
  • Provide technical management to the grants trainee.
  • Ensure the quality, relevance and compliance of the reports submitted to donors and partners.
  • Oversee the editing and revision of MEAL deliverables (such as endline evaluation reports) in collaboration with the MEAL team leader
  • Oversee the grants component of DRC Dynamics system
  • Improve, update and share the reporting tools regularly.
  • Support staff capacity building in terms of reporting, data collection, quality and compliance.
  • Manage follow-up of contractual and official information and correspondence for grants.
  • Ensure regular updating of DRC’s grants management tool (via DRC Dynamics).
  • Lead proposal development for specific sectors under the supervision of the Head of Programme, and contribute to proposal development across the DRC portfolio in DR Congo.
  • Work with the Head of Programme to ensure concept note and proposal workflows and deadlines are followed by programme teams.
  • Support the Head of Programme to engage and liaise with donors and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to MEAL and Protection staff ensuring quality management of information in line with DRC standards.
  • Contribute to collecting and centralising information on new funding opportunities, calls for proposals and donor guidelines.
  • Produce and update a donor mapping.
  • Participate in the organisation of kick-off and closure meetings for each project

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 2 year of professional experience with an international NGO in a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of the project management cycle, MEAL mechanisms and funding processes.
  • Very good knowledge of major donors (EU, UN agencies, etc.).
  • Excellent writing, proof-reading and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong ability to adapt, take initiative and work in a multicultural environment.
  • Very good data analysis and research skills.
  • Experience working in protection and emergency sectors.
  • Experience training both national and international staff.
  • Awareness and willingness to work in a volatile context.
  • Advanced practical knowledge Microsoft Office Pack (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook etc.), and online tools such as Sharepoint and Dynamics.
  • Professional fluency in French and English required.

Desirable

  • Experience in DR Congo highly desirable
  • Basic practical knowledge of graphic design software (InDesign, Scribus, Photoshop etc.).
  • Additional languages desirable

Conditions

Contract: 1 Year Contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance. Salary and conditions in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment Non-Management Band G.

Availability: 1st September 2022.

Duty station: Goma, DR Congo
