POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Grants Manager executes Water For People’s approach to the vital function of grant management by providing critical input to the maturation and implementation of the organization’s grants management function.
The Grants Manager will develop Water For People’s capacity to cultivate and retain high level donor relationships by supporting some of the organization’s top tier donors and largest grants. Serving as an integral role within Donor Impact, this position will additionally contribute to the team’s achievement of annual revenue goals through close collaboration with other team members on grant management – building on our successes and identifying new strategies that will allow us to make even more impact and achieve our organizational strategic objectives. This includes regular participation in team strategic sessions, annual planning and budgeting, cross-functional knowledge sharing, and the cultivation of strong cooperative ties across teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
· Directly manage a select portfolio of donors, addressing needs proactively and making decisions that serve both donors and Water For People’s interests.
· Assist in the continuous effort to improve and reinforce Water For People’s global, organization-wide grant management function, which supports greater internal efficiency and transparency and ensures that the organization is accountable to the timely delivery of donor deliverables, meets donor expectations and is compliant with all legal donor agreements and donor policies.
· Support country program employees to build their capacity in grant management, from proposal development to narrative and financial reporting and compliance.
· Develop and mobilize resources and trainings, working across departments, to ensure that adequate support is provided to country, regional and Denver offices, so that each holds sufficient capacity to effectively adhere to our grants management function.
Fundraising and Donor Liaison
Develop and maintain relationships with specific organizational funders (as assigned), proactively meeting funder needs and managing requests. Specific to this portfolio:
· Orchestrate the production of proposals, including budgets, deliverables and timelines, in collaboration with Finance, program staff in country, regional and Denver employees.
· Orchestrate the production and review of donor reports by coordinating with program and finance employees in country, regional and Denver offices, to produce narrative and financial reports on time and aligned with reporting requirements; directly review and finalize reports for consistency with donor needs prior to submission to the donor.
· In cooperation with the Finance team, monitor the financial stewardship of assigned grants, including the review of financial reports, and assessment of donor compliance as it relates to finance.
· Coordinate donor visits to country and US offices.
· Collaborate with other departments to develop additional stewardship ideas and opportunities to further engage donors.
· Create and deliver non-standard reports to donors as requested.
· Manage internal review and execution of new donor contract and execute with donor when applicable.
Grants Management
· As part of the Grants Unit, work in collaboration with Grant Writers and Grant Managers, and liaise across teams and departments in the Denver office (Donor Impact, Finance, Global Support, and Global Programs), to ensure that each respective department/team is appropriately engaged in Water For People’s grant management process, from opportunity identification to proposal development to contracting to reporting to close out.
· Liaise with Country Program employees to enable full and effective utilization of grant management processes and systems; providing trainings, onboardings, answering queries on process guidance, and providing input in grant negotiation opportunities with partners.
Internal Communication
Develop and manage effective processes and tools to enhance Water For People’s grant effectiveness, including but not limited to:
· Ensuring that assigned donor records are kept up-to-date and maintained in Raiser’s Edge, providing transparency.
· Recording key information in the Grant Management System and disseminate it to country, regional and Denver employees regarding donor/grant requirements and expectations.
· Supporting employees in building their capacity in grant management toward ensuring successful and compliant execution of grants.
External Communication
· Manage external communications related to portfolio under direct management, including managing and responding to donor-related external communication.
· Ensure that Water For People’s external communications accurately capture and recognize the donors in personal grant portfolio.
· Represent Water For People at external events, with an ability to describe our work to diverse audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
· At least 3 years of experience in international development or relevant field is required, including managing complex grants.
· Experience developing grant proposals, deliverables or reports.
· Experience working with remote and multi – cultural teams.
· Experience developing, implementing, or improving processes and procedures.
· Advanced computer proficiencies with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
· Demonstrated ability to work across multiple teams.
· Experience using databases or customer relationship management systems preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Ability to travel 5% of the time domestically and internationally to low- and middle-income countries where travel is rugged.
· Ability to work in an open office environment and work outside regular business hours to meet with personnel located in other time zones.
· This position has the option to work from an office at Water For People Headquarters in Denver, Colorado or remotely.
· Water For People will not support remote work from the following states: NY, NJ, VT, WS and CA.

Salary Range: $54,000 to $74,000**
