A day in the life of a Grants Manager for the Emergency Response

This new Grants Manager will lead and provide strategic guidance in conjunction with the Emergency Response Manager (ERM) for all current and future program development, streamlining grants and proposal development processes, and serving as the main liaison between the South Sudan office and International Headquarters (IHQ) on all proposal and/or grant related matters. The Grants Manager will also manage the complete life cycle for a portfolio of grants with multiple sector/sectors (e.g. Ministry, WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Health, etc.). Job Duties
* Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
* Provides oversight of the full life cycle of grants within multiple sectors by working with internal Program managers, Area Coordinators, the Program Development team, Technical Advisors, Monitoring and Evaluation Managers, and senior management.
* Works with external donors by representing Samaritan’s Purse at meetings, identifying funding opportunities, building relationships, and ensuring finances and reports correctly adhere to requirements.
* Works with the Emergency M&E Manager to develop robust systems and identify trends in data, document lessons learned, and utilizes these findings to re-orient current programming as necessary and drives future project concept development.
* Liaises between Samaritan’s Purse and Governmental/Non-Governmental authorities for collaborative programming on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse. Integrates cluster strategies into project design, as appropriate.
* Regularly travels to field sites to better understand the operational environment and challenges faced in project implementation and to provide guidance on donor and Samaritan’s Purse internal rules and regulations.
* Acts as the primary driver of the proposal development process, working in close collaboration with Technical Advisors, Area Coordinators, Finance, Operations and the Emergency M&E Manager to inform project design and determine feasibility. Ensures that proposals meet all donor requirements and strategic priorities, as outlined in the donor’s guidelines for applications.
* Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
* Assesses, manages, and reports critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
* All other duties deemed necessary by the Regional and/or Country Director.

Qualifications & Experience
* BA degree or above in social sciences, public health, business administration or international development with six (6) years or more experience and in-depth understanding of grants/contracts management; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
* Experience in WFP, BHA, UNDP, UNICEF, FAO, IHA and GAC funded projects strongly preferred. Experience with Food Security & Livelihoods, WASH, health, nutrition, food aid, and gender projects strongly preferred.
* Proven experience in database development and management strongly preferred. International experience of development and/or humanitarian work with NGOs, preferably from several countries, preferably in Africa, strongly preferred.
* Highly self-motivated
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to coordinate both financial and programmatic functions of grant management
* Strong skills in analytical and strategic thinking
* Excellent quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
* Ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems independently
* Ability to plan, organize, manage time, and meet deadlines in an ever changing environment
* Ability to understand financial reports and analyze financial variances
* Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
* Excellent knowledge of computer applications, in particular proficiency required in MS Word, MS Excel and Power Point
* Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies preferred.
