Grants Manager (Impact) – Expatriate Bamako At Help in Action

Ayuda en Acción is a Spanish organization that was created more than 40 years ago. It is present in more than twenty countries around the world and intervenes in all types of humanitarian crises with the aim of protecting the most vulnerable people, guaranteeing them access to food and livelihoods, ensuring their access to education and training, all this while ensuring that sustainable solutions are put in place that allow them to take charge of their future. Ayuda en Acción has been present for several years in the Sahel in Niger and Mali where, in addition to providing assistance to displaced people who are victims of conflicts and the chronic food crisis, it has developed a system for producing fortified flours aimed at offering a local and sustainable solution to the chronic food crisis that the region is experiencing.

As part of the development of its activities in Niger and Mali, AeA, present for only a few years, wishes to increase the capacities of its teams in the sector of fundraising, representation with donors and partners by hiring a “Grants Officer”.

Objective :

AeA is recruiting a Grants Manager (GM) to support AeA’s development and partnership efforts in Niger and Mali with international donors and funders, including the United States Government (USAID, etc.), the EU, European and other governments, foundations, and the private sector. This position will focus on developing new communications information, positioning, and developing project and program proposals.

Responsibilities:

  • Framing and monitoring relevant funding opportunities with existing and new donors in close cooperation with the Country Director and the HQ Funding Department.
  • Facilitation, drafting and coordination of documents and processes for developing narrative and financial proposals and preparation of funding offers to donors, the private sector and other potential donors in close collaboration with AeA Niger/Mali and AeA HQ, ensuring that lessons learned from previous projects are included;
  • Ensure compliance with grant conditions, including cost eligibility, reporting and monitoring and, where necessary, provide support to programme officers on the implementation of donor-funded projects, including quality assurance, coordination, monitoring, reporting and evaluation;
  • Support in the development and implementation of the annual fundraising strategy and turnover budget;
  • Where appropriate/requested, facilitate training and/or other support to local partners to strengthen their fundraising efforts, their understanding of institutional donor requirements and their reporting skills;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of major funding instruments, such as US Government, EU, ECHO,
  • Network and share information about AeA’s national, regional and global technical work to build our organizational reputation and brand in the region.
  • Represent the Niger/Mali and AeA programs in business development efforts, and understanding with donors, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and support in collecting donor information and developing and implementing positioning plans.
  • Support overall programme monitoring, particularly for projects funded by institutional donors.
  • Boost communication and visibility of programs in close collaboration with the Country Director and the Communications Department at headquarters.
  • Perform other related duties as requested and assigned.
  • Report to the line manager, regional coordinator on all matters relating to projects and formulation of proposals.

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience: 7 years of experience in business development and/or fundraising for humanitarian and development projects; previous experience in developing project proposals for international donors such as the EU, ECHO and AECID.
  • University studies in social sciences, engineering (BAC+5), international development or equivalent. Master’s degree in international cooperation is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills, rigor and precision.
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Very good knowledge of relations with public administration
  • Ability to work across multi-faceted programs, and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to manage time.

LANGUAGES:

  • Essential: Spanish and French – C1 Advanced
  • Highly desirable: English- C1 Advanced

Geographic mobility:

  • National mobility based in Bamako, Mali with occasional short-term trips to Niger.

Other requirements:

  • Windows (Advanced)
  • Knowledge of MEAL tools
  • Knowledge of West Africa would be an asset

  • Ability to travel domestically and regionally when deemed appropriate and safe.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Offer conditions:

  • Incorporation: July 1, 2024
  • Contract duration: 1 year with possibility of renewal
  • Working day: 40 hours per week
  • Work center: Bamako with travel to Niamey
  • Remuneration/Salary in accordance with Ayuda en Acción’s remuneration policy.
