Finn Church Aid (FCA) is the largest Finnish international aid organization. We operate in 13 countries, where the needs are most dire. FCA Kenya is implementing advanced digital skills training project building on the experiences gained in the Creative Industries program and the potential of young men and women who possess digital skills to engage in a broad range of economic activities in the sector with well-targeted support. The project is aimed at providing emerging creatives with the technical and entrepreneurship skills, knowledge, resources, and access to networks necessary to tap into economic opportunities in Kenya’s creative industry.

FCA Kenya is seeking a highly motivated and a dedicated individual to fill the role of consultant as Graphic and Web Design Trainer for the Creative Industries (CI) Program. The trainer/coach will be required to deliver physical and virtual training and individualized coaching to intermediate to advanced-level learners, most of whom have acquired basic training in graphic and web design.

Objectives of the Assignment

  • Provide personalized coaching and support to participants to facilitate their learning and skill development.
  • Collaborate with the project team to organize networking events, guest speaker sessions, and industry panels to connect participants with professionals in the creative industries.
  • Facilitate mentorship opportunities and encourage participants to engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders to facilitate job placements and market linkages for participants.

Skills and qualifications required

  • A relevant diploma/bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe in-design and other visual design tools (a portfolio is required)
  • Proficiency in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML and CSS, JQuery, JavaScript, Word Press (a portfolio is required)
  • Up-to-date experience with international web protocols, standards, and technologies. Proven experience in delivering training programs, preferably in the digital sector.
  • Strong understanding of digital technologies and emerging trends in the industry.
  • Previous experience of delivering Training Programmes through online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Virtual Learning platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt training content to meet the needs of different learning styles.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of job market dynamics and industry connections in Nairobi is desirable.
