Graphic/Motion Designer (m/f/x) – MSF Belgium – Brussels

CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has the ambition to go beyond its medical and humanitarian work by speaking out about the plight of the people we assist as well as bearing witness of the realities we encounter through our activities around the world. This is the responsibility of all MSF’s staff, but in practice, the capacity to convey strong messages mainly lies with communication professionals across the MSF movement, both in the field and at the headquarters.

The COMBO Unit (Communication for Brussels Operations) is a team of communication, audio-visual and digital professionals that delivers high level communication support to MSF’s operations. It serves the Brussels Operational Centre (OCB) of MSF and is part of the Communication and Fundraising Department in Brussels. The Unit’s main tasks are to advise on and develop communications strategies and public positioning on specific contexts and to support the field teams with communication productions and day-to-day activities.

As part of the COMBO Unit, the Multimedia Team includes a Multimedia team leader, a Video advisor & multimedia producer, a Photo advisor & multimedia producer and a Graphic&Motion Designer. We are looking for a Graphic&Motion Designer for a replacement of 6 months.

RESPONSABILITIES

MSF often works on complex issues or contexts which are sometimes tricky to translate into relevant communications. Thanks to its power of visualization and simplification, infographics and motion design can help us reach a large audience in a memorable way and help audiences understand an issue in one moment. Social media, traditional media and print reports all benefit from static or animated infographics. MSF is also working on some sensitive issues which while hard to show in video or photo form lend themselves well to an infographic approach. The position offers many opportunities and allows the Multimedia to respond to the increasing demands of modern visual communication.

The Graphic&Motion Designer will be producing and adapt infographics, motion design, animation and multimedia content. S/he will act as a team player working mainly on design development and production but also giving a hand on video production when needed (subtitling, adaptation). The Graphic&Motion Designer will be producing for operational communication. S/he will also be in charge of developing updated policies and standards for design production and for maintaining organized archives in design.
