This internship is part of an academic, professional or socio-professional training program, and must meet the conditions set by the Employment Market Supervisory Board (CSME). The duration of the internship, set by the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 12 months at 100%.

Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent international medical and humanitarian organisation that provides care to people in need, to people affected by natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The internship is directly part of the GIS Centre, which is coordinated in Geneva. The internship will cover needs and support for all MSF Operational Centres in line with the mandate of the GIS Centre.

The Intern will provide daily support to the MSF GIS (Geographical Information System) Center in the development and implementation of tasks in the areas of graphics and communication (internal and external).

Main responsibilities

  • Design, production and layout of various communication documents:
    • Organization of interviews with GIS Specialists upon their return from their deployments, on the basis of which field files are produced (content and form – support from the Cartography Intern).
    • Coordination, design and production of GIS Flash Info (every 2 months)
    • Designing templates for technical sheets
    • Maintenance of documentation as on the GeoMSF platform
  • Management of the GIS YouTube and SharePoint platform
  • Contribution to the establishment and implementation of the communication plan resulting from the communication strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of the GIS Centre graphic charter and ensure its correct application.
  • Participation in the organization of GIS events (Mapathon and GIS Week)
  • Maintenance of Office templates: Word / PPT
  • Review and improvement of communication documents according to the target audience
  • Ad-hoc support for OC communication equipment
  • Participation in strategic meetings: note-taking and drafting of minutes (task shared with the Data Management Intern)

Profile sought

  • Currently studying or completing a cycle of higher education
  • Be eligible for an internship agreement with a third party
  • Experience in associative and/or humanitarian environments is an asset
  • Experience as a graphic designer is an asset
  • Excellent command of the Adobe suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and Windows (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Strong taste for teamwork
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs
  • Familiar with remote communication and working systems
  • Knowledge of YouTube and SharePoint platforms an asset
  • Excellent command of French
  • Excellent command of English

Working conditions

  • Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
  • Internship 6 to 12 months at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
  • Based in Geneva
  • Start date: Early April
  • Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
