FUNCTION: The Hatching Hope Asia Business Development Director (HHABDD) is responsible for positioning and scaling up of the Hatching Hope Global Initiative (HHGI) in India and across the Asia region, and reports to Heifer’s Vice-President of Global Partnerships. The HHABDL will lead the relationship management with Cargill Asia and other potential regional HHGI funders and partners and will ensure regular and effective communication occurs, keeping the partners engaged and informed, and the Hatching Hope Core Team abreast of the Cargill Asia relationship and HHGI activities in the region.

The Director will also be responsible for collaborating directly with Heifer India, Heifer Asia Area Programs, other HHGI implementing partners, stakeholders and consultants to ensure HHGI impact targets are met with high-quality proposals, and project-related activities, issues and challenges are elevated appropriately with funders, partners and the HHGI Core Team.

This position will collaborate with and manage internal Heifer HHGI stakeholder relationships with the Business Development & Partnerships teams (including Institutions, GPA, Foundations and BD specialists) with a focus on strategic business development for HHGI and to explore partnership and resource mobilization opportunities for HHGI in the region.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES:

A. Hatching Hope Global Initiative Strategic Growth (50%) • Proactively identify and monitor suitable HHGI business development opportunities in Asia, including new markets and emerging trends, utilizing established relationships, market research, news/key development alerts, and other sources of poultry industry knowledge, and clearly articulate the related projections to partners and the HHGI Core Team. • Collaborate with the HHGI Core Team on the identified HHGI opportunities in Asia and strategies within the opportunity pipeline, determining fit with HHGI’s established goals and priorities. • Represent and position HHGI at regional forums and activities where donors/funders/partners are key participants. • Ensure achievement of HHGI revenue and strategy growth goals across Asia in conjunction with Area teams and other partners. • Arrange/facilitate appropriate communication materials for positioning HHGI locally and in the region. • Collaborate with HHGI Core Team by assisting with strategic planning, opportunity identification, pipeline development, and partnering strategies. • Facilitate the visioning and program development of HHGI in India and in Asia. • Support the Hatching Hope Core Team to prepare reports to the Steering Committee and Heifer and Cargill leadership. Relationship Management and Resource Mobilization (35%) • Serve as singular point of contact for Cargill in Asia and manage relationships with funders and partners to HHGI in Asia. • Explore HHGI partner engagement opportunities beyond funding (employee expertise: technical assistance, market knowledge and influence, poultry nutrition, in-kind, etc.). • Collaborate with India HHGI team and other partners to develop and build relationships with local governments, international agencies and international NGOs. • Develop and manage a pipeline for partners and major grants for HHGI from across India and Asia. • Serve as Positioning Lead and/or Proposal Strategy Lead for HHGI Asia opportunities; work with the Heifer Asia Program teams and Area BD team to develop teaming strategies, proposal planning and cost strategies. • Ensure that proposals developed are high-quality and respond to funder criteria, and align with HHGI Results Framework and Goals.

B. Reporting (15%) • Maintain close engagement with project activities in order to track HHGI project progress and outcomes, and budget on all HHGI Asia projects and oversee HHGI Asia contribution to HHGI monthly dashboard, quarterly reports, and Annual Executive reports and share with stakeholders, donors and partners. In times of emergency, inform in real-time about the situation on the ground. • Lead discussion on redressal of project related challenges with program team, funders, and stakeholders. • Ensure representation and participation in internal stakeholder meetings. • Oversee, as appropriate, internal and external communications developed for the project. • Manage quality and timely grant reports, coordinating with the Hatching Hope Core Team, as appropriate. • Oversee the integrity of donor data in Blackbaud CRM to ensure accuracy of the information for all engagements. • Support business governance and compliance activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: • Master’s Degree in International development, business or political science, or other related field • Minimum of 10 years of experience in international business development, including private sector relationships, partnership development and management of multi-stakeholder consortiums • 15+ years of experience within fundraising, with a demonstrated track record of achieving results against targets • Proven record of securing annual and multi-year funding from funders such as major institutions, tier one foundations, government agencies, and non-traditional funders • Experience in public speaking • Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships with global stakeholders with proven, strong facilitation skills and the ability to make asks • Ability and willingness to travel (primarily within India, but also internationally) • Demonstrated understanding of country and program context, and respectful approach to working with diverse cultures • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills • High attention to detail especially in written communication, data analysis, and donor follow up • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment, and willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and extend beyond formal responsibilities as needed for the work • Fluency in English, both spoken and written • Strong organizational and analytical skills • Self-motivated; positive attitude

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES: • Demonstrated experience and interest in working on projects related to Heifer’s goals of supporting smallholder farmers to achieve a sustainable living income • Experience working in writing grant applications for multinational funders • Understanding of the non-profit sector and the context in which non-profit organizations operate, particularly in international development • An established network of contacts relevant to business development goals
