Head, HR Business Partners (E1) At Save the Children – US

Summary

The Head, Human Resources Business Partners, as part of the People & Culture (P&C) Leadership Team, will provide overall leadership, advice and counsel to our Programmatic and Operational Divisions in support of the successful implementation of the Agency’s strategic goals. You will lead a team of HR Business Partners who will partner and consult with internal client groups, analyzing human resources issues and challenges and proposing clear, practical solutions. You will also be a strategic advisor to senior clients and partner closely with the CPO. You will be responsible for developing and executing short and long term strategies to ensure that the systems and processes to attract, develop and retain highly qualified employees are in place. You will ensure that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging – supporting Save the Children values.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Function Leadership Provide the framework for the HR Business Partner function to execute strategic and tactical human resources consultation and services, determining accomplishment, key milestones and overall success. Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise HR Business Partner staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission. Ensure strong engagement and service levels across the business teams and act as key resource for the broad range of HR matters from policy communications and interpretation to relationship and change management. (25%)
  • Divisional Partnership: Ensure partnership with other parts of P&C (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, etc.), the Agency’s Chief Diversity Officer, and other Departments (Finance, IT, etc.) to roll out and support People & Culture and agency-wide initiatives. When required, backstop the CPO on the Crisis Management Team as the primary P&C contact for medical, security or other emergency evacuations. (25%)
  • Policy and Cooperation: Liaise and partner with other Save the Children members to harmonize international policies, practices, and approaches such as secondment agreements, international allowances and taxation, international mobility, emergency deployment, child-safeguarding training, staff induction, etc. (20%)
  • Performance Management and Issue Resolution – Support HR Business Partners through the performance appraisal process each year including guidance in setting performance expectations, employee development plans and communications; assist managers in assessing employee performance and addressing deficiencies. Serves as a point of escalation and resolution for employee relations issues; provide leadership and counsel to HR Business Partners and clients on employee relations issues and resulting actions. (10%)
  • Talent Management – Gain thorough understanding of individual competency needs and help senior leadership build strategy and implementation for talent development, leadership development, succession planning, etc. (10%)
  • Organizational Design and Change Management – Provide overall leadership and advice to the HR Business Partner team in designing organizational structure in alignment with Agency and divisional strategies. Partner with the People and Culture (P&C) Leadership Team to effectively manage change and transition and ensure that the P&C perspectives and compliance to agency procedures and other legal standards are considered. Monitor and provide active guidance to employee relations issues as a result of change and transition activities. (10%)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 15 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of HR professionals and working at the executive level of an organization as a trusted strategic advisor
  • Global business experience desirable
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 – NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $188,700 – $210,900 base salary
  • Geo 2 – Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $171,700 – $191,900 base salary
  • Geo 3 – Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $154,700 – $172,900 base salary

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location. Employee may be eligible for an incentive program. Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
