BRAC International (BI) is seeking application from competent, dynamic and self-motivated individuals to fill the following position:
Head of Climate Change Programme, BRAC International
The Head of Climate Change Programme (CCP) will provide strategic and technical leadership to develop transformative approaches for CCP of BRAC International (BI). Reporting to Director-Programmes, s/he will work with the team to ensure CCP strategy, standards and systems are in place and implemented across BI countries. The Head -CCP will provide strategic guidance and technical support to BI-Country teams to accomplish the planned activities/interventions towards achieving the Climate Change agenda of the organization in collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders. S/he will also, promote linkages to the national health authorities, other institution, advocacy, partnerships, fundraising, and internal technical and functional teams, and at the same time ensure consistency of approaches with other associated members of BRAC International. The position will establish a strong collaborative relationship with other key teams across BRAC and BI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to BRAC International’s Climate Change Programme in BRAC International and its country offices
- Mobilize resources for Climate change Programme of BI from Donor, Government, GCF etc. and building on the CCP work in BI and its countries
- Take the lead in CCP sector’s proposal development, help country management to design new projects/proposals and review and provide technical input on proposals. Should have in depth experiences in problem tree analysis, Theory of Change, developing Log Frame, etc.
- Ensure mainstreaming of climate change interventions within BI’s development programmes
- Provide technical support and guidance to the CCP team to design, implement, and monitor and evaluate the programs in the ground through communication and regular field visit to the countries as necessary.
- Support national and global advocacy of the Climate Change approaches/learnings to tackling Climate Change related effects. Develop effective linkages with Governments, donors, strategic networks and partners to ensure that BI’s Climate Change programming receives optimum visibility
- Liaison, engagement and relationship management with key programme stakeholders, including national and local government, civil society institutions, and international development partners
- Ensuring the capture and dissemination of lesson/stories/case studies related to the delivery of programme results, as part of the wider communication, publicity and visibility effort.
- Closely work with the Fundraising, Grant Management and Monitoring & Evaluation team to synchronize information needs and compile programme-level M&E information for dissemination.
- Review and provide technical input on internal and external impact documents/ reports and other documents as needed.
- Informed, learns from, and builds relationships with key stakeholders, affiliates and partners.
- Ensure all kinds of reports according to programme objectives, required standards and meet reporting quality of donors, partners and affiliates.
- Represent BRAC International at the various climate change sector related meetings and forums with donors, government technical counterparts and partner organizations.
- Overseeing the performance management of all programme staff and consultants (short and long-term) and carrying out further recruitment as needed.
- Establish a safeguarding culture across all level of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Safeguarding
- Establish a safeguarding culture across all level of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

Educational Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Climate Change/Disaster Management/Geography and Environmental Science/Social Science/ Development or related field

Experience Requirements:
- 12 + years’ experience in a senior technical or management position in an NGO, UN or donor agency (an international organization managing complex programs), including programme design, planning, implementation, administration and finance especially for Climate Change Programme.
- Considerable experiences in proposal development and report writing
- Demonstrated success in raising fund for Climate Change programme
- Experiencing dealing with various donors
- Experience in working with a diverse team.
