Job Title: Head of Finance & Operations

Salary Range of role: Tk. 250,000 (Monthly)

Summary of the role:

The Head of Finance & Operations (HoFO) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and monitoring of Finance, HR, Logistics & Procurement, & IT functions of the Muslim Aid Bangladesh Country Office (MABCO) country operations.

HoFO will be responsible for providing financial management, planning, monitoring and reporting of our programmes in the country. HoFO will actively contribute towards the strategic growth of the CO ensuring compliance to all relevant statutory and regulatory Government requirements, Donor and Muslim Aid policies, procedures and guidelines, including providing timely and quality financial reports as required both internally and externally.

HoFO is also responsible for financial control, management and reporting of the Country Office (CO) resources; and will provide management in CO and HQ with the financial information, advice and support they need to lead and manage the CO operations effectively. Oversee the implementation of the CO strategy, budgets and performance reporting through the management and development of the finance teams.

About the Role:

  1. Collaborate with the Head of Programmes and Country Director to identify finance needs, financial management issues and develop strategies to address them, optimizing funding opportunities of the country programmes in line with country priorities and the corporate framework
  2. Contribute and implement Muslim Aid’s financial strategy and the implementation of robust and cost-effective financial management systems and implementation of a financial management strategy.
  3. Manage organisational resources including both the charity’s and institutional funds.
  4. Improve the Business Partnering and interaction of finance with other departments and the HQ with a view of improving control and feedback of information.
  5. Provide leadership in the budget setting process, providing suitable information to managers and budget holders, leading discussions on budget allocations and presenting financial plans and budget to the CD and HQ management.
  6. Develop human resources budget and ensure proper allocation of existing financial sources (internal/Admin Fund and donors).
  7. Support Procurement and Logistics Department to develop a country-wide planning.
  8. Ensure that there is an effective interface between Logistics and Finance functions in order to meet business needs and program implementation.
  9. Lead and manage the Finance and Operations teams to ensure cohesion, effectiveness and introduction of innovation and change, through effectively managing and coordinating their work.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Masters / Post-graduate academic qualification in Finance, Business Management or related discipline (where appropriate in the local context)Experience of working with budgets
  2. Substantial demonstrable post qualification experience in a similar role in an INGOHigh degree of organisational and time management skills.
  3. Experience of funding streams to the charity sector, particularly in institutional grants
  4. Extensive knowledge of the technical operating principles, practices, and problems of governmental accounting, hedging, INGO accounting, budget control, procurement, collection, licensing, insurance claims, and payroll administration procedures
  5. Demonstrable leadership and people management experience including distance line management of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
  6. Fluent in written and spoken English with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels.
  7. Ability to work in a systematic and methodical manner, maintain confidentiality and meticulous attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
  8. Ability to produce results innovatively and effectively on own initiative, with limited direct supervision, tight deadlines and budgets and in a high pressure environment, where frequent interruption of activities occurs.
