Head of Global Internal Audit and Quality Support At Norwegian Refugee Council

We are now seeking candidates for Head of Internal Audit & Quality Support to support top management and the organisation in improving systems and efficiency, governance, internal control, and risk management processes.

The objective of Internal Audit & Quality Support (IA & QS) is to contribute to achievement of NRC strategic objectives. This is primarily achieved through assurance assignments and advisory assignments, using a risk-based approach to identify the key issues.

The mandate of IA & QS covers all parts of the operation, with NRC using the Three Lines Model for internal control. Internal Audit is governed by the NRC Internal Audit Charter and reports directly to the Board.

We are looking for candidates that are motivated by actively supporting managers on all levels to drive learning and change. As the scope of IA & QS is wide, we encourage people with different backgrounds to apply (humanitarian, business management, auditing, etc).

The position is located at Head Office in Oslo. NRC offers opportunity for home office according to the NRC Hybrid work policy.

What you will do:

Some of your duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Conduct internal audits and reviews of NRC systems and units in accordance with an audit plan approved by the Board
  • Provide assurance to Board and top management on the effectiveness of NRC’s systems for risk management and internal control
  • Monitor management follow-up of Internal Audit recommendations
  • Effective cooperation with other parts of the organisation, including the Risk Management Section
  • Support managers across the organisation as they develop the organisation, based on recommendations and finding from Internal Audit
  • Manage and develop the Internal Audit function, with an Internal Audit strategy and plan of action in line with NRC’s overall strategic direction
  • Develop relevant tools and methodologies for internal audit
  • Performance management of internal audit staff, including development of staff and holding the Unit accountable for results and budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Senior management experience from complex organisations, preferably with international exposure.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant higher education
  • Documented experience from developing governance, control and risk management systems for complex organisation; experience from the humanitarian field is an asset
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal; knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an asset
