The AECF has successfully implemented programmes across 26 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting over 343 enterprises, raising US$ 392 million in funding for programmes, that have created 25,000 jobs and impacted 28 million lives.

We are seeking a Head of Human Resources & Administration with a solid foundation in all functional aspects of Human Resources to join our growing team.

The incumbent will be responsible for integrating the HR function into the everyday fabric of the organization by developing strong relationships with all departments. The Head of Human Resources & Administration will develop and execute human resource strategies in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of AECF in the areas of talent management, succession planning, change management, performance management, training and development, compensation and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Develops and implements HR strategies and plans to support the achievement of AECF’s overall business objectives.

Functions as a strategic business advisor to the senior management team on human resources issues.

Provides overall leadership and guidance to the HR team.

Lo**c**a**t**i**o**n**:** This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya (With occasional travel).

Re**p**o**r**t**i**n**g** to**: Director of Operations.

Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and occupational health and safety. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

Develops and implements learning & development strategies to ensure that the skills, knowledge, abilities and performance of the employees meets the current and future organizational needs.

Guides the organization in respect of performance management and provide HR technical assistance in setting performance standards, performance reviews and assessments.

Works with the senior management to establish a robust succession plan that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the organization. Oversees the management of office leases, country hosting agreements and maintenance of office facilities.

Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with local employment laws and regulations, maintains knowledge of trends and best practices; reviews and modifies policies and procedures to maintain compliance.

Assures a robust knowledge management approach that looks into trends, best practices, and new technologies in human resources, and talent management, and applies this to inform AECF human resources management strategies and policies.

Suitable candidates should:

Hold a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or other related field.

Be a certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP- K).

Be a member in good standing of the Institute of Human Resource Management.

Have at least ten (10) years of building world-class teams with a minimum of five (5) years in managerial experience.

Have practical knowledge & experience across several HR disciplines including organizational change, employee relations, employment law, DEI, performance management, talent development, recruiting and compensation.

Be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and knowledge of HRIS.

Be committed to and enthusiastic for AECF’s mission and business model.

Have excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication and conflict resolution skills.

Have the ability to prioritize amidst various and sometimes conflicting priorities.

Have a high attention to detail, self-driven, results- oriented and action-focused.

Be fluent in English. Working knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
