Focus on our activities in CAR

Present since 2007 in the CAR, PUI is developing its integrated approach with programs in Health, Nutrition, Food Security and Water-Hygiene-Sanitation, particularly in the north of the country, in the prefecture of Bamingui Bangoran (Ndélé). PUI supports primary health centers and posts in particular, in support of certain hospitals, while intervening in more remote areas via the deployment of mobile clinics, supplemented by a community approach and strengthening of the management of Severe Acute Malnutrition . PUI is also strongly involved in the recovery of agro-pastoral production tools in the Ndélé area and in strengthening the supply of Water, Hygiene and Sanitation services. At the logistics level, PUI has developed a shared storage platform in Bangui for humanitarian partners. Today, the mission is made up of 5 projects benefiting from the support of CDCS, BHA, AFD, UNICEF and SIDA.

And the Head of Mission in all this?

As Head of Mission, you will be responsible for the proper functioning and development of the mission.

To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Security: You will be responsible for security on the mission
  • Programs: You will coordinate the teams and ensure the proper implementation of programs on the mission, you will monitor needs and propose new interventions and development avenues for the mission.
  • Human Resources: You will ensure the proper human dimensioning of the mission and supervise the teams (definition of objectives, monitoring).
  • Logistical, administrative and financial monitoring: You will ensure that the logistical and administrative practices in place respect PUI procedures and formats and are in line with Lessor rules.
  • Medical and technical monitoring: You will ensure that medical and technical practices respect PUI procedures and formats and are in line with the PUI intervention policy.
  • Representation: You will represent the association to partners, donors, media and various authorities.
  • Relations with Headquarters: You will ensure the smooth flow of information between headquarters and the field and ensure that deadlines are met.

What you will need to succeed

  • Formation

You can provide proof of a higher diploma (min. Master 2 or equivalent) in a field linked to humanitarian action: project management, technical training linked to one of our sectors of intervention, human resources management, financial management, etc.

  • Experience

You have at least three years of field experience in an international NGO, in project coordination. Experience in expatriate team management, project management, and security management is essential. Have you already held the position of Head of Mission or equivalent in an international NGO? This will be greatly appreciated. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? This will be an undeniable asset!

  • SKILLS

You master humanitarian project management and team management, you have in-depth knowledge of the main donors. You have excellent writing skills.

  • Required qualities

You demonstrate good interpersonal skills, ease of communication, both written and oral, and you have a taste for teamwork. You demonstrate leadership and the ability to make decisions, reliability and a sense of responsibility, rigor and organization, responsiveness and adaptability. You have excellent resistance to stress and an ability to work under pressure.

PUI will offer you

  • Status: Executive on a fixed-term contract
  • Gross monthly salary: 3,330.00 – 3,930.00 EUR depending on your experience in international solidarity + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI
  • Insurance including medical and complementary health coverage, 24-hour assistance, repatriation and foresight
  • Accommodation in collective house
  • Living expenses (“Per Diem”)
  • Break regime: 5 working days at 3 and 9 months of mission + break bonus
  • Paid Leave Plan: 5 weeks of CP/year + return plane ticket home every 6 months
