Job Purpose and Background:
The SBTi is looking for a Head of People and Culture that will develop and implement the human resources strategy of the SBTi. This includes building from the ground up processes such as recruitment and hiring; talent retention; staff evaluation and productivity improvement. The Head of P&C will also be key in the transition to a stand alone entity and will be required to provide advice on employment law in the different countries where the SBTi hosts employees such as the UK, Germany, France, the US, Mexico, Brazil, among others. This position will provide expert advice in the creation of compensation and benefits packages and international salary bands for SBTi staff. Finally, this role will be responsible for designing and maintaining the organizational work culture and values of the SBTi guaranteeing long-term equity, wellbeing, and appropriate organizational development.

You are passionate about finding and recruiting talent, and comfortable working in an international team, and managing different tasks at a time. You have a strategic mindset that will help you design a general HR strategy for the SBTi, and define the different talent needs of the organization as we grow. You are at ease working independently and remotely, but also enjoy being a team player and working to unite an international team. The ideal person will be comfortable building an HR department from the ground up and navigating complex organizational structures and have great stakeholder management skills. You also have experience with international employment practices including working with outsource provides (EORs). Finally, you are passionate about organizational development and promoting wellbeing and lifework balance in an organization.

Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a human resources strategy for the SBTi and ensure it meets organizational priorities and promotes diversity, inclusion, and quality among staff;
- Support the organizational transition process that the SBTi is going through and line manage HR consultants as needed to manage the transition workplan;
- Coordinate with HR professionals across SBTi partner organizations to negotiate and agree responsibilities and implementation of HR functions across partner organizations (WWF, WRI, CDP, UNGC);
- Work with the IT team to set information systems for HR and support the implementation of new technologies for HR processes;
- Assist in key organization-building functions including organizational structure design, review and implementation of salary and title guidelines and expectations across the SBTi, and other strategic HR initiatives;
- Collaborate with team leads to understand skills and competencies required for openings;
- Create and implement a hiring process inside the SBTi considering steps, people responsible, processes, and deadlines;
- Manage the talent acquisition process with the support of the P&C officer, tasks may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants;
- Implement the onboarding and offboarding protocols with the support of the P&C officer and assist colleagues during the onboarding stage (general training on tools, introduction to the SBTi, general internal protocols);
- Create learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees;
- Assist in the creation and implementation of internal protocols related to daily operations and human resources;
- Design workplace policies to reduce conflicts, legal issues, and improve employee productivity;
- Shape and maintain the organizational culture of the SBTi according to our core values;
- Design and implement integration activities to improve collaboration and teamwork;
- Support in the creation of KPI´s and goal-setting per team and colleague;
- Design and implement an evaluation process to assess productivity and goals;
Essential skills and experience needed:
- Advanced English level (all SBTi work is in English)
- Sound and up-to-date understanding of HR and organizational development practices, including but not limited to, change management, resourcing, compensation and benefits, policy development.
- Significant and proven experience in leading and managing HR functions at a senior level.
- Strong understanding of fundamental payroll processes, employment law (international), and best practices in recruitment, people data management and reporting, and employee relations
- Proven experience in building and maintaining relationships at a senior level resulting in securing new opportunities to influence change.
- Experience working with international NGOs at a senior level
- Experience with employee negotiations

Desirable criteria:
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions
- Interest in the climate spaces and sustainability
- Good experience using digital tools such as Asana, CRM, Slack
This is a full-time role based in Mexico or Germany and reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations. The salary for this role will be dependent on location and level of experience but within a range of 80-95K MXN monthly. This role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
