Open Cultural Center (OCC) is a non-profit organisation (NGO) based in Spain and Greece that works towards the inclusion of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers by offering activities to both host-country nationals and third-country nationals.
Project description: Youth For All is a socio-professional insertion project for former foster migrant youth in the rural region of Moianès, Catalonia. The project accommodates 10 young people in a house in Castellterçol, and for one year offers them professional training in forestry, as well as Spanish, Catalan and computer classes, and individualised monitoring by a social integrator.
Main tasks
- Support the educational team in the organisation of the weekly classes and volunteering activities;
- Teaching language (Spanish and/or Catalan) and computer classes;
- Create educational materials;
- Support the coordinator and social educator in establishing personal development plans for the young people;
- Support the coordinator and the social educator in the establishment of rules and structures of coexistence;
- Accompany young people to administrative and/or medical appointments;
- Supporting the expansion of the local network by presenting the project at public events, contacting local actors, etc;
- Support in the administrative tasks of the project;
- Support in the creation of communication content;
- Support the rest of the team and actively participate in the activities of the organisation.
Requirements
- Good level of Spanish;
- Catalan and English are a plus;
- Commitment to the mission of the project;
- Autonomy and proactivity;
- Teaching experience would be an asset;
- Training in social work, social education, social integration a plus;
- Good written communication skills;
- Experience organising activities is a plus;
- Experience and/or interest working/volunteering with migrant people is a plus;
- Ability to empathise, assertiveness and conflict management would be an asset.
What do we offer?
Our volunteering program is funded by the European Commission through the European Solidarity Corps program. This means that volunteering provides:
- Travel costs coverage: Up to the limits established in the Erasmus+ Guide distance calculator from the volunteer’s region of residency to our center, and back.
- Free Accommodation: Provided in Castellterçol. The house is fully equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine, etc.).
- Monthly allowance: 280 euros per month.
- Health Insurance: Henner
- Free Language courses: Online.
