Role Summary

Oversee the financial and HR activities of the programme. Take responsibility for the accounting functions required to provide accurate and timely information on the financial status of the programme to donors, GSO and Country Programme management. Organise and further develop the financial processes, managing the finance and HR team. Manage recruitment of national HR staff, staff policy development, co-ordination of training and general staff well-being.

Project Overview

Medair is currently implementing Health & Nutrition projects in Sudan, with the intention to expand WASH, Shelter/NFI and Cash programming.

Workplace & Conditions

Port Sudan Base/Country office, Sudan, with frequent visits to project locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Manage the day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the programme (including expense processing, monthly reconciliations, cash flow); ensure that Medair Finance Procedures are followed.
  • Grant Management: analyse and monitor the financial progress of grant expenditures; provide direction on effective budget management and financial compliance topics.
  • Human Resources Management for Employees on National Contracts: Manage the day-to-day Human Resource functions of the programme (including recruitment, contracts, induction, payroll).
  • Human Resources Management for Employees on International Contracts: Liaise with Country Program management and GSO Human Resource Partner to support employees on international contracts.
  • Follow the correct procedures according to Medair policies and local laws.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:

  • University degree in a relevant subject
  • Certified in accounting or finance
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written); Arabic desirable
  • Relevant professional experience in a financial and/or HR position
