HR Intern – Geneva (Switzerland) At Geneva Call

Mission

In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial, and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavors to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed groups and de facto authorities in order to improve the protection of civilians, while supporting local communities in their efforts to enhance their own protection. Geneva Call is a private, not-for-profit, humanitarian organization foundation under Swiss law, founded in 1998.

Role

Geneva Call is looking for an HR Intern to support the organization’s global Human Resource Management efforts. The HR Intern will be part of Geneva Call’s Human Resources Unit and will report directly to the Head of HR.

Core responsibilities

Support Talent Acquisition Coordinator with the following tasks:

  • Screening applications and providing longlists for open positions as per the criteria mentioned in the job requirements.
  • Scheduling written tests and interviews with the candidates and recruitment panel.
  • Collecting, preparing and filing the scoring of written tests.
  • Conducting reference and background checks on selected candidates.
  • Updating and maintaining the recruitment tracker and statistics.
  • Maintaining proper filing system of all recruitment documentation such as job descriptions, interview guides etc.
  • Compiling, analyzing and presenting recruitment related data and statistics, as requested.

Support HR Unit at HQ with various HR initiatives:

  • Contributing to HR projects such as staff engagement, performance management, IT digitalization, etc.
  • Drafting and reviewing documents, including guidelines and reports, etc.
  • Creating processes and workflows in Visio.
  • Creating organizational charts.
  • Collecting, analyzing, preparing, and summarizing statistical data.
  • Contributes to the creation of the internship policy for Switzerland.

Main qualifications

  • Involved or completed a BA degree in HRM, business administration, brevet federal for HR in Switzerland, or similar field.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Other languages (especially French, Spanish, and Arabic) are an asset.
  • Advanced analytical and communication and writing skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent command of MS Office applications; familiarity with HRIS is an asset.

Conflict of interest

Any candidate affiliated to, or openly supporting, one or more groups opposed to the Foundation’s principles and values, or whose previous position could engender safety issues for co-workers at Geneva Call, will be excluded from this selection process.

Conditions

  • Position: HR Intern
  • Type of contract: Internship contract with tripartite agreement
  • Activity rate: 100%
  • Remuneration: 1700 CHF gross per month
  • Workplace: Geneva
  • Duration: 6 to 12 months
  • Preferred start date: April 2024

Candidates must fall into one of the following three categories:

  • Current student: mandatory or optional internships pursued while the intern is enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree or professional qualification.
  • Orientation internships pursued shortly after the completion of a first degree (e.g. Bachelor’s) or prior to an advanced degree (e.g. Master’s) on condition that the university awarding the degree attests to the relevance and usefulness of the internship.
  • Internships pursued with the aim of assisting the intern’s social or professional reintegration, under the oversight of the cantonal or federal-level authorities.

  • If you will receive credits for the internship at Geneva Call by your university.
  • If you are holder of a work permit for Switzerland and the category of work permit.
