HR Knowledge Management Officer (Fixed-Term) At International Committee of the Red Cross

Job Purpose

The KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT OFFICER will contribute to the design and creation of a knowledge platform that will serve as a one-stop-shop for all HR-related subjects/topics for increased accessibility and an improved employee experience.

The successful candidate will provide temporary support (minimum of 3 months, but with possible extension) and will be primarily be responsible for updating policies, procedures, and other reference documents within the department.

Working together with colleagues in PAC, this role will also encourage a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaborative workflow particularly in the management and maintenance of PAC documents.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internally, interacts with teams under People & Culture, other Knowledge Management officers, Assistants & IM Officers, and Heads of Units/Divisions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and deploy an employee-centric resource center or knowledge management platform that serves as a repository of knowledge assets for the People and Culture (PAC) Department. This include:
    • translating requirements into design systems and attractive user interfaces
    • create workflows, prototypes, and mock-ups.
    • incorporating feedback, usage metrics, and usability into design in order to enhance user experience
    • designing UI elements such as input controls, navigational components and informational components
    • providing support for technical exchanges and transversal coordination between teams.
  • Supports the optimization of internal knowledge management in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders through the following:
    • creation of a user-friendly masterlist of PAC reference documents containing relevant metadata and links to other references, KM tools, and platforms.
    • design and deployment of a SharePoint solution that supports change management and versioning for traceability and accountability.
    • creation of a document classification system defined by key stakeholders.

Selection Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in design, computer science, communications, or a related discipline is required in some cases.
  • At least 2-3 working experience as a UI/UX Designer, as a Knowledge & Information Management Officer, or in a similar capacity
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of databases, knowledge management platforms, and/or virtual repositories is preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and other capacity-building processes, both in-person and virtually is required.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and web content management. Knowledge in the use of SharePoint designer is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is a plus.
