About this role

The Human Resources/Operations Coordinator performs and manages people and administrative operations functions to support Access Now’s Team Members throughout the Asia-Pacific Region. The Coordinator helps to ensure that regional operations run efficiently and effectively, addressing local needs, while closely integrating with global operations practices and functions. Functions encompass professional support for performance and talent management processes, employee engagement, organizational culture, and core administration and operations capacities.

This position reports through the Director of People Experience (HR), and works closely with Finance Team Members, other HR leads, as well as management leads for programmatic arms through which Team Members in the Region report.

What you will do

Staffing

  • Support recruitment and outreach efforts for key roles through use of automated hiring tools (HRIS), coordination with regional civil society and education partners, and through leverage of existing team member relationships and talent
  • Serve as onboarding lead, and primary contact, for new Team Members in the Asia-Pacific Region
  • Ensure effective retention through active and hands-on engagement with Regional teams, managers, and other HR team members
  • Assist in the proper offboarding of Team Members at separation of employment and/or contract engagement

Employee Relations/Culture

  • Support strong organizational culture through close coordination with Regional Teams and managers with respect to the Organisation’s core values and policies that intersect with work/life balance, equity and inclusion, and anti-harassment commitments
  • Understand and support through close coordination with Regional Teams and managers, region-specific security challenges or considerations which may be raised by Team Members with regard to conducting human rights/civil society work on the ground
  • Drive organizational improvement through implementation of strategies aligned with strategic and operational work plans, and with Team Member feedback surveys
  • Serve as initial point-of-contact for regional issues and grievances, and facilitate access to HR resources for Regional Teams and managers

Performance Management

  • Provide general support to Regional Teams and managers around development, coaching, and performance management
  • Support managers in the coordination of performance management processes that include scheduling, goal-setting, facilitation of peer feedback, and completing annual review processes
  • Assist managers and teams with identification of, and access to, professional development resources and experiences

Administration

  • Work closely with Director-People Experience and Legal arm to ensure compliance with applicable employment regulations, and research regulations as needed
  • Participate in HR, Operations, and other cross-functional meetings to support organisational strategy
  • Serve as contributing Team Member to various projects around HR policy, systems design, industry benchmarking, and implementation of annual work plans
  • Manage HR data, and related processes, through effective use of Organization’s HR information system, and by coordinating with contracted, private employer organizations (PEOs), where applicable
  • Gather and share qualitative and quantitative data around jobs, compensation and employment trends specific to the Region
  • Coordinate monthly completion of time allocation forms and other invoices, and assist Finance Team in collecting necessary information from Regional Teams and managers
  • Assist with ordering of supplies and materials for offices and/or home-office environments, as needed
  • Support Team Member meeting and conference attendance with selected travel arrangements and visa support
  • Advise Regional Teams on applicable policies and procedures, staying up-to-date on new and evolving processes

Skills, education, and mindset you will bring

  • Demonstrated work experience in a human resources or related role supporting the employee needs of a diverse, non-profit and/or mission-driven organization
  • Knowledge of common HR practices and work culture in the Asia-Pacific region – in India, the Philippines and/or Singapore, in particular – including key knowledge regarding employment and administration regulations, financial operations, culture and practices
  • Knowledge of human rights or civil society-specific HR and security conditions within the region
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with global teams
  • Keen awareness and understanding of how to effectively manage cultural differences in the workplace
  • Ability to plan and follow through with projects in an organized and efficient manner, with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and research abilities, and methodical in approach to problem solving and managing data
  • Experience with managing or supporting grievance and/or anti-harassment processes and policies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English; fluency in other Asian languages including but not limited to Tagalog, Malay, or Hindi is helpful
  • Familiar with shared word processing documents, spreadsheets, and databases

The Details

Location and Time Commitment

This is a full time position, and is expected to be based in the Asia-Pacific Region, ideally in either Singapore, New Delhi, or Manila, while noting that there is some flexibility for remote work locations within the Region. Access Now anticipates filling this role through one of its established staffing partners. Expected working hours will generally be from 9:00 UTC+8 to 17:00 UTC+8, with occasional meetings outside of business hours.

Remuneration

Access Now offers competitive salary – commensurate with experience – and benefits packages that align with regions and localities. As example, initial placement in ranges in the following locations is anticipated to be:

  • Singapore: between 3,500 and 4,000 $SGD monthly
  • New Delhi: between 175,000 and 215,000 ₹INR monthly
  • Manila: between 125,000 and 150,000 PHP monthly

The actual compensation level will be driven by depth of experience and preparation.
