Humanitarian Context Assessment and Foresight Analyst At Development Aid

The role is fundamentally forward-looking and predictive in nature. The analyst works with regional and country teams to identify critical information gaps in context monitoring and delivers on-request analytical pieces (such as scenarios, actor analyses, key trends analyses), with a systemic (non-sectoral) perspective and forward-looking approach, to fill these gaps.

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of political, economic, social, environmental and security trends and emerging risks and threats to inform country and programme strategy, advocacy, planning and preparedness.
  • Assessment of cyclical and emerging natural hazard risks to facilitate anticipatory action in key countries
  • Support the roll-out of key organisational policies, such as the Centrality of Protection and the
    Localisation policies.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in international relations, political science, peace and conflict studies, international
    security, social sciences, journalism, or other demonstrably relevant discipline

Experience:

  • In-depth understanding of humanitarian protection, human rights, child rights, humanitarian
    access and conflict/peacebuilding approaches.
  • Knowledge of environmental and climate security debates and trends in the LAC context, as well
    as potential related advocacy opportunities.
  • Good knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish, with the ability to produce complicated and
    detailed analysis in both languages
