About the job

Known as Danish Demining Group (DDG), the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (HDP) is the branch of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) that focuses on humanitarian peace building and disarmament programming. DRC-DDG has been present in Libya since 2011 and started operations in Tripoli in 2022, striving to increase safety and protection levels among communities who reside in some of the most contaminated areas with explosive hazards, by reducing and removing the contamination threat and by providing explosive ordnance risk education awareness sessions to those most at-risk. The Project Officer- HMA Capacity Development (PO) will play an integral role in the partnership definition and capacity development of DRC-DDG humanitarian mine action (HMA) national partner in Libya. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Support the capacity building assessment and liaison with the partner/s and coordinate on teh development plans definiation.
  • Coordinate between DRC-DDG teams in ensuring an effective partner engagement
  • Ensure regular communication and visits to the partner teams and operations
  • Ensure all the partnership grant documents are of high quality, finalized and properly filed
  • Lead the partnership related reporting and review processes, including the filing of all relevant files

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to demonstrate ecellent coordination and communication skills, being able to develop capacity building assessment and development plans in support of local actors contributing to saving lifes in Libya. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of NGO experience in a programmatic capacity involved in the development and delivering of humanitarian activities in particular for HMA programmes
  • At least 2 years of experience working in partnership with and building the capacity of local civil society organizations; and strong understanding of the civil society, national and local partnership operating environment in Libya.
  • Experience in faciliating and delivering targeted and high-quality technical training and capacity building, including in settings with remote technical management.
  • Ability to act as a focal point, working across multiple teams
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills (Arabic and English).

Desirable

  • Good programme management skills, including capacity to prepare logical, coherent and consistent content (proposals, budgets, logframes, reports)
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining good working relationships in a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Sound IT skills, Microsoft Word, Excel etc
