HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE COORDINATOR (80%) at HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation

For our Head Office team based in Zurich or Bern we are looking for a result-orientated and engaging individual to join our organisation as of September 1, 2022, or upon agreement. This is fixed term contract of two years with the possibility of extension.

The position holder will oversee and further develop Helvetas’ Ukraine Crisis Response Programme, consisting of projects in Moldova, as well as projects in Ukraine (UA) implemented in collaboration with our partner organizations of Alliance2015. As member of the global humanitarian response team, he/she will in addition participate in supporting other Helvetas country teams to effectively respond to humanitarian crisis.

YOUR MAIN TASKS

As Humanitarian Response Coordinator UA:

  • Lead strategic development of the Ukraine Crisis Response Programme in Moldova, UA, and potentially other neighbouring countries, in collaboration with the Emergency Response Representative in Chisinau
  • Liaise and coordinate the ongoing response in UA with strategic partner organizations of Alliance2015; identify and develop other partnerships to further develop the organization’s engagement in UA
  • Provide leadership & support to the Emergency Response Team based in Moldova, incl. management of recruitments for employees with HO contracts
  • Ensure fund mobilization amongst Swiss and other institutional donors; manage submissions of project proposals and reports
  • Responsible for the financial planning as well as controlling at programme level
  • Act as interface to the Communication & Marketing Department by supporting the development of communication material, press releases as well as fundraising material

As a humanitarian response team member:

  • Participate in elaboration of institutional processes
  • Participate in the provision of operational preparedness support for country teams
  • Participate in exploratory / support missions in the case of sudden disasters

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic degree (Master or equivalent) in a relevant field related to international cooperation or a related degree in Humanitarian Aid
  • At least 7 years’ experience in managing humanitarian programmes, ideally in displacement or armed conflict settings
  • Familiarity with CVA programming, livelihoods, WASH, and protection approaches
  • A proven track record in mobilizing funds from institutional humanitarian donors, and working in partnership with other international organizations (consortia)
  • Strong managerial skills, including result-oriented management, human resources and financial management competences
  • Proven interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills
  • Capacity to adapt to changing requirements and perform in fast-paced and environments
  • Excellent spoken and written English, as well as working knowledge of French
  • Knowledge of the Ukraine context is a distinguished asset
  • Motivation and high flexibility to travel abroad, even at short notice if required, an in unstable environments.
