In recent years, some populations in South America and the Caribbean (Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Haiti), Central America (Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador) and populations from outside the continent have been affected by violence. devastating. In addition, extreme weather conditions and other natural disasters are also a factor in displacement in northern Central America and Mexico. The number of displaced people has been growing dramatically: each year, hundreds of thousands become internally displaced or flee their country trying to reach the United States or Mexico and are often caught in the middle or sent back to their country, where they face the most difficulties. challenges. As of 2018, Mexico has become a de facto country of refuge, hosting a significant number of vulnerable migrants and refugees, despite having been self-declared an unsafe third country. Increasing restrictions on accessing asylum in the United States have led to an exponential increase in asylum applications in Mexico.

The NRC North Central America and Mexico (NCA&M) Country Office (CO) was established in January 2021 and NRC currently operates in four countries: in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico. As the magnitude of the humanitarian situation in Mexico continues to increase, NRC is currently expanding its programs in southeast and northeast Mexico.

We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee. Are you one of those people? If you are, NRC offers you the opportunity to:

  • do demanding and professional work, often in challenging contexts
  • join a work culture that empowers every employee to share ideas and take responsibility
  • be part of a welcoming and supportive community committed to human dignity
