The Operations and Management Directorate (OMD) provides corporate services to all SPC Divisions and Programmes. It consists of three key departments: Finance, Human Resources and Information Services. OMD is focused on improving the effectiveness of systems, policies and management to provide high-quality customer-oriented services.

The role – ICT Project/Support Officer will be responsible for the implementation of ICT projects within the organization. This individual will ensure successful project implementation in collaboration with cross-functional teams and assisting with managing project risks and issues. Additionally, this individual may be required to provide end-user ICT support on a day-to-day basis as needed.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Project Planning and Initiation

  • Work with stakeholders to clarify project goals and scope.
  • Assist with creating project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Assist in the evaluation of project feasibility and identify potential risks.

Project Execution and Monitoring

  • Keep track of project progress and adjust as needed.
  • Assist in holding regular project meetings to keep everyone informed.
  • Assist in managing project documentation, including requirements, specifications, and change requests.

Risk Management and Issue Resolution

  • Identify project risks and plan strategies to minimize potential impact.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate stakeholders and facilitate timely resolution.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure that projects adhere to quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance reviews to assess project deliverables and performance.
  • Participate in post-project reviews to evaluate project outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management

  • Build good relationships with stakeholders, including business users, IT teams, and external vendors.
  • Communicate project objectives, progress, and outcomes to all stakeholders.
  • Address stakeholder concerns and requests in a timely and professional manner.

ICT Support

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users via various channels, including phone, remote access, email, and in-person.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, security and network issues promptly and effectively.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to desktops, laptops, AV equipment, printers, digital desk phones, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.

Key selection criteria

Qualifications

  • Diploma in IT or equivalent tertiary qualification.

Technical expertise

  • Relevant IT work experience of 4-5 years.
  • 2 years of proven experience in project management.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Experience working in the Pacific.

Language skills

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).

Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

  • Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment.

Salary, terms and conditions

Contract Duration – 3 years – subject to renewal depending on funding and performance.

Remuneration – The ICT Project/Support Officer is a band 7 position in SPC’s 2024 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of FJD 2,287-2,859 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will normally be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.
