We work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.

SCOPE AND NATURE OF THE SERVICES:

Relief International has been operational in Yemen since 2009 and is currently active in both North and South, with its main office in Sana’a and area offices in governorates across the country. The program centres on Health with components linked to our work in Health through the sectors of WASH, Protection and Food Security/Livelihoods. The country context is extremely dynamic and requires focus on nexus programming that brings together both humanitarian service delivery combined with systems strengthening and longer-term programming.

Objective

The objective of this consultancy is to support Relief International in cleaning up program data (particularly ECHO and BHA), creating a comprehensive country database, analysing data to support reporting requirements for donors, specifically ECHO and BHA; and produce an analysis on current health trends in RI areas of operations.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  2. Creation of a Comprehensive Country Database:
  3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
  4. Collaboration with Technical Assistance Department and Program in Yemen:
    • Inception Report: A detailed plan outlining the approach, methodology, and timeline for database clean-up and creation.
  • Review and clean existing project databases to ensure accuracy and consistency (2023/2024 at minimum).
  • Identify gaps /weakness in the current data management practices
  • Standardize data entry formats and protocols to improve data quality and reliability.
  • Review of current data collection methods, tools and ensuring compliance with indicator calculations/definitions requirements per donor regulations
  • Develop a unified country database (in Excel or other software/application to be discussed and agreed with RI) that consolidates all project data from various sources.
  • Ensure the new database is user-friendly, scalable, and compatible with existing systems.
  • Establish data visualization system i.e.powerBI to support easy visualization and analysis
  • Recommend key roles / positions required to implement such data management processes.
  • Analyse health and nutrition data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis to improve health and nutrition interventions in Yemen.
  • Work closely with the Technical Assistance Department to align database and analysis efforts with technical standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Program team in Yemen to ensure the database and analysis meet programmatic needs and enhance operational efficiency.

Deliverables:

  • Cleaned and Standardized Databases: Fully cleaned and standardized databases with documented data entry protocols.
  • Comprehensive Country Database and required roles: A newly created, integrated country database with all relevant data and the required roles to implement such data management system.
  • Establish a Data Visualization Platform
  • Comprehensive analysis summarizing key trends in RI areas of operations, with clear recommendations on future programmatic interventions,
  • User manual and training materials for database management.
  • Capacity Building: Conduct training sessions for local staff on database management and data analysis techniques.

All deliverables will be verified by Relief International and processes should align with common practices.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor or Master in Public Health (highly preferred)
  • Prior experience in database management and data analysis in health sector
  • Experience with data visualization
  • Familiarity with donor reporting requirements particularly ECHO and BHA.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Training on Health information management is an added advantage
