BACKGROUND AND JOB PURPOSE

Contribute to the implementation of the GLC work plan and the Logistics Cluster strategy for the Americas region to ensure that Logistics Cluster activities at regional level meet the expectations of partners and donors. The Information Management Officer reports to the Regional Logistics Cluster Officer, based in Panama.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITES

  • Support the monitoring and reporting responsibilities for the GLC Preparedness Project in countries under Regional Bureau of Panama’s oversight, in order to maintain the highest degree of transparency and accountability to its stakeholders.
  • Support Logistics Cluster National Preparedness Officers rolling out the Project at country office levels in close support with the Regional Logistics Cluster Officer.
  • Ensure National Preparedness Officers and key staff are informed of Information Management (IM) tools and systems made available by the GLC.
  • Support National Preparedness Officers in reinforcing National Disaster Management Organization’s (NDMO) capacities to maintain internal and external information sharing mechanisms and systems; assessment formats, central file store, archive, reporting systems updated and running.
  • Ensure that the information shared by the countries where the Logistics Cluster works in the region is accurate, consistent and in line with GLC standards. This includes templates, publications, platforms, Preparedness websites and others.
  • Support the preparation of internal and external reporting documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring they are regularly revised/updated as required.
  • Review and edit documents, providing constructive feedback to National Preparedness Officers who produce Logistics Cluster products and reports.
  • Support the production and publication of products concerning the Preparedness project. These products include visual and written communications materials, social media posts, interviews, infographics, and others.
  • Deploy to gather content about GLC activities in the region, as required by the Regional Logistics Cluster Officer. This include gathering pictures, videos, interviews, and others.
  • Build and maintain links with GLC partners working towards common logistics preparedness goals to build and maintain technical and response capacities.
  • Collaborate with relevant parties/stakeholders on in-country preparedness related mapping activities and analyses of mapped networks.
  • Contribute to the development of GLC IM training modules and deliver trainings as required.
  • Perform other duties, as required by the Regional Logistics Cluster Officer.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University Degree in Communications, International Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, or related field; or First University Degree with additional years (three) of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience: At least 2 years of work experience in Communications-related fields. Experience in the humanitarian field is highly desirable. University degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Humanitarian Action or other closely related field; or equivalent combination between education and professional experience.

Languages: Spanish and English level C in both oral and written communication; working knowledge (level B) of a second UN language, preferably French, is desirable.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; high attention to detail; good analytical skills; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure as part of a team; ability to work independently while seeking support in a fast-paced work environment. Experience in filming and/or graphic design in a professional setting is highly desired.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • Timely reports are ensured;
  • Media coverage for all relevant activities is planned and executed;
  • Visual and written content is gathered from Country Offices;
  • Information Management products are adapted to stakeholders needs; Advocacy for the Logistics Cluster and its regional activities is guaranteed; and others as requested by Logistics Cluster partners at national, regional and global levels

Successful candidates will be placed in a roster for two (2) years.

This position is open only to Panamanian citizens or residents with permanent work permit.

Individuals whose services are contracted under the SC (“SC holders”) are not WFP staff members, and their terms of employment are not governed by the FAO Staff Regulations and Rules.
