Counterpart International, together with a diverse consortium of local partners and in collaboration with the Government of El Salvador, implements Alimenta y Florece, a McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program in El Salvador funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Alimenta y Florece is a five-year initiative that aims to support more than 44,000 students in the departments of San Miguel and Morazán by delivering nutritious school meals, supporting infrastructure rehabilitation, empowering local communities to decentralize school feeding, fostering local food production, and strengthening economies.

The Information Technology (IT) Assistant/Coordinator will support the implementation and maintenance of the Feed and Bloom program’s IT equipment and systems, including hardware, software, networking, data storage, and security across its two offices. Reporting to the Human Resources and Administration Officer and with oversight of Counterpart’s U.S. office IT team, the IT Assistant/Coordinator will help optimize technical performance, security, and computer system integrity to ensure local offices run smoothly and Counterpart’s digital ecosystem is continually protected. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinate closely with Counterpart IT staff in their US office to address and resolve IT needs and incidents for local project offices.
  • Plan and coordinate the installation, configuration, maintenance, availability and security of the program’s IT equipment and networks in accordance with Counterpart IT standards and requirements.
  • Manage crisis situations to ensure uninterrupted IT support, such as cyber threats, phishing attempts, and account hacks.
  • Facilitate requests to the U.S. IT department to create and update, as needed, user accounts and permissions; maintain a tracker to continuously monitor all program-related accounts to determine when accounts should be updated or terminated.
  • Provide technical information and support on audiovisual services and Internet connectivity for virtual and in-person events.
  • Work closely with program staff to prioritize and manage the integration and evolution of digital solutions to enhance program implementation.
  • Manage vendor relationships, evaluate vendor performance, and ensure third-party services meet institutional requirements; support procurement processes to align IT procurement with program standards and donor requirements.
  • Assess and address IT training needs by providing induction, technical guidance, coaching and hands-on training for staff and partners, both remotely and in-person.
  • Coordinate with the program management team to maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment, hardware, and software.
  • Provide strategic input for budget development, focusing on IT-related expenditures to align with program needs and objectives.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field of study (e.g., computer science, computer networking, programming, or information systems); equivalent experience and/or certifications may be accepted without a degree.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in IT-related roles, preferably with an international NGO with a separate office managing IT systems for the entire organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT infrastructure, ensure system security and optimize the use of technology within an organization.
  • Solid knowledge of IT systems, networks and software to support organizational objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and coaching skills to effectively support staff and partners.
  • Full command of Spanish.
  • Willingness and availability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferable:

  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, Cisco Certified Network Associate, Microsoft SharePoint Foundations, or ITIL Foundation Certified.
  • Intermediate to advanced level English proficiency.
