Intern, Food System Governance At Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition

About the Role

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking an Intern, Food System Governance to provide research, reporting and coordination support for the Global Food System Governance programme. This position will be based in Utrecht, The Netherlands office and is offered on an eight weeks fixed-term contract basis.

Reporting to the Food Systems Governance Global Manager, this internship will focus on inclusive food systems governance research and supporting Resilient Markets and Nourishing Food Pathways programme teams to manage data according to best practices and to develop, refine and finalise several reports based on workshop activities and data.

The intern will conduct desktop research on city and local governments food systems governance tools and practices to reshape urban and wider food systems, in support of the development of various internal technical materials. You will also undertake various office, coordination and administrative tasks such as scheduling and attending meetings with programme team members and tracking deliverables.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting food systems governance desktop research
  • Drafting internal research reports, presentations and other materials based on desktop studies
  • Managing data and data files and presenting data according to best practices
  • Co-developing evidence rich and administrative reports on GAIN’s multistakeholder and partners food systems governance workshops
  • Contributing to the development and tracking of communications materials (blogs, articles, videos, social media posts) to drive awareness of GAIN’s food systems governance activities
  • Providing research and food systems governance workshop reporting, project management, and administrative support including the development of reporting templates and workflows.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience in university research studies and at least one period of international experience via other internships, volunteer work or community projects. Candidates with understanding of food systems, policy, governance, urban food environments and/or nutrition is preferable.

The postholder will be fluent in written and spoken English and skilled in producing, in English, several key materials including research reports, emails, academic style papers and case studies.

You should possess proactive general project coordination and administrative skills. Currently enrolled at a university, either in final year/completed Bachelors’ Degree or Masters’ Degree in public health, agriculture, food systems, development studies, public policy and/governance, public administration, Liberal Arts and Science studies or related fields. In addition, you will be computer literate in Microsoft Office.

About our Offer

The salary on offer for this role is EUR 747 per month (gross salary).

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Due to COVID19, conflict in Ukraine and climate change, malnutrition and hunger have worsened significantly since 2019, reversing a decade of progress.
