Intern for event communication At Doctors Without Borders in Switzerland

Duration ( depending on the tripartite internship agreement if in Geneva ): 6 to 12 months to 100%

The internships at MSF in Geneva are part of an intra- or extra-academic course, or according to federal measure of professional integration (https://www.ge.ch/engager-personne-stage). A tripartite internship agreement is compulsory if the trainee is based in Geneva.

Context & Mission

For 50 years, MSF has provided medical assistance to populations facing crises threatening their survival: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care. All these situations require adequate medical and logistical resources.

The internship provides an overview of MSF Switzerland’s event work. The trainee actively participates in the choice, planning and carrying out of events throughout Switzerland. He is in contact with various cultural partners and artists, notably within the framework of PhotoSCHWEIZ in Zurich, the FFDUL film festival in Lugano or the Paleo-Festival in Nyon.

Main activities

  • Collaborate in the selection, planning and realization of MSF events throughout Switzerland.
  • Help create communication materials for ( workshops, exhibitions, festivals, film screenings, workshops )
  • Active participation in the development of MSF cultural partnerships
  • Administrative tasks and coordination of MSF ( personnel interventions both in the medical sector and in support activities. ) at the scene of the events.
  • Administrative coordination of guided tours for visitors to MSF Switzerland headquarters

Profile sought

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in the field of events and cultural management, communication or social sciences.
  • First professional experience in the field of event desirable
  • Organizational talent, targeted and efficient working method
  • Interest in humanitarian issues
  • Very good knowledge of German (mother tongue or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of French and English
  • Availability to travel to MSF events throughout Switzerland

Internship conditions

  • Compulsory tripartite internship agreement if based in Geneva
  • Varied work within a dynamic team
  • Flat hierarchy and short decision paths
  • Internship 6 to 12 months at 100%
  • Place of work: Geneva (with internship agreement) or Zurich
  • Possibility of 1-2 home-office days per week
  • Start of contract: August 14, 2023
  • Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
