*Job Title: Spring Intern, ICT4D Conference Communications & Digital Media*

Department/Location: Global Knowledge and Information Management (GKIM)

*FLSA: Non-Exempt (20 hours/week)*

*Reports To: ICT4D Conference Manager*

*Duration: Spring – (January 10 to May 10, 2022)*

The ICT4D Conference was founded in 2010 by Catholic Relief Services and has grown each year to become an invaluable opportunity for NGOs, private sector organizations, governmental agencies, foundations and academia to exchange their experiences in using ICT for development and humanitarian programs and learn from each other.

Now in the virtual space offerings include webinars, podcasts, publications, and virtual conferences, including:

ICT4D Partnerships Conference, January 25-27, 2022

ICt4D for Malaria Elimination Conference, April 2022 (TBD)

The intern will support the social media activities, and author web blogs or create digital content for ICT4D Conference events and website including: writing social media shares and blogs; assist with monthly webinars, and write event summaries, or create infographics, animations, or similar creative content.

The intern will support updating material across multiple social media platforms.

*This internship seeks a current undergraduate or graduate student seeking to obtain work experience that aligns with his/her studies in Digital Media/ Social Media/ Digital Marketing/ Graphic Design and/or to fulfill requirements for an academic course or degree.

Primary Function:

The intern will support the ICT4D Conference digital marketing strategy and social media engagement by:

  1. Executing social media strategy: Researching and writing social media posts to help promote the ICT4D virtual conferences in January and April.
  2. Developing new content: Writing blog posts for the website or creating infographics or short animated videos.
  3. Engaging with key speakers, partners, and CRS colleagues for the content creation.
  4. Gaining general insights to digital event marketing and virtual events.

Job Responsibility:

  • Social Media: write and post tweets from @ICT4DConference twitter account and posts from our Facebook and LinkedIn groups; engage with other bloggers and tweeters;
  • Research and engage with new LinkedIN and Facebook groups
  • Write short blogs/articles about ICT4D (interview conference partners and speakers)
  • Assist with monthly ICT4D webinars, development of PPT slides, and post-webinar write-up or infographic
  • *Support ICT4D Partnerships Conference (January 25-27) and ICT4D for Malaria Elimination Conference (end of April 2022, TBD): social media coverage, design PPT slides and other event materials, note taking and interview speakers and session leads for post-event summary report*
  • Research and create new digital content (depending on skills and interest this could include infographics or short animated videos)

And possible other tasks to support the ICT4D Conference.

Key Working Relationships:

Internal: The intern will primarily work with the Conference Manager, and from time to time with CRS Marketing colleagues

External: The intern will communicate with partners and speakers of the ICT4D Conference when researching and writing content for the ICT4D Conference website and social media pages.

Qualifications:

  • A college degree preferred.
  • Interest in the international development sector and/or digital media
  • Experience in and passion for social media engagement
  • Creative skills (creative writing, animation, or similar)
  • Demonstrable writing experience, conveying complex topics in a consumable format
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in Bachelor’s or Graduate program
  • Good academic standing
  • Eager to learn and work with various departments in the company.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
