ALIMA PRESENTATION

CARE – INNOVATE – TOGETHER: Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 10 million patients, and today deploys its operations in 12 African countries. In 2022, we have developed more than 60 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflicts, epidemics and extreme poverty. All of these projects support national health authorities through nearly 511 health structures (including 47 hospitals and 464 health centers). We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible in order to improve access and the transfer of skills which ensures the sustainability of our actions for our patients. Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response, we are carrying out operational and clinical research projects, particularly to combat malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers.

THE ALIMA TEAM: More than 2,000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, closest to the patients, receive their support from the coordination teams generally based in the capital of the countries of intervention. They receive support from the 4 desk teams and the emergency and openings service team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The Paris and New York teams are actively working on fundraising and representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA Galaxy includes individuals and partner teams who work on behalf of other organizations such as the medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERTE Santé, SOS Médecins, KEOOGO, AMCP-SP, DEMTOU-Humanitaire, PAC research organizations -CI, Inserm, the Universities of Bordeaux or Copenhagen and many others.

OUR COUNTRIES OF INTERVENTION: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Chad, Ukraine.

OUR PROJECT THEMES: Malnutrition, Maternal Health, Primary Health, Pediatrics, Malaria, Epidemics (Ebola, Cholera, Measles, Coronavirus, Lassa Fever), Research, Hospitalization, Emergencies, Gender-Based Violence, vaccinations, mental health, etc.

POSITION LOCATION: The position is based in Port au Prince / Haiti.

PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Level 3: The position holder is responsible for implementing the recruitment process and may be required to make field visits. He·She may therefore be in contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or presentation of a certificate of good conduct will be necessary. In situations where it is impossible to provide a criminal record or a certificate of good conduct, a sworn declaration will be requested.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS

You are supervised by the External Activity Manager, you report on your activities on a daily basis. You mainly collaborate and interact with teams.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

1.Medical activities

  • Assist the nurse in organizing and providing care and treatment to patients, respecting at all times the rules of hygiene, safety, comfort, dignity and medical confidentiality.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of your work environment (including facilities, equipment, linen, equipment, and sorting and eliminating waste).
  • Compensate for any lack of autonomy of patients by assisting and helping them with eating, personal hygiene, travel and general comfort.
  • Participate in monitoring and monitoring the patient and report any useful information to the nurse.
  • Respond to the nurse’s requests in an emergency.
  • Participate in basic health education sessions.
  • Participate in monitoring nursing activities (correctly completing patient files, etc.) and ensuring relevant transfer of information between service teams.
  • Report any problem occurring in the care unit, including loss, theft or damage to equipment or medications.
  • Work in collaboration with nurses, maintenance workers and caregivers.
  • Actively participate in the hospital platform (meetings, committees, etc.) and training.
  • Participate in any other related activity as requested by the supervisor.

2.Other provisions:

  • Observe the ALIMA internal regulations
  • Strict respect for medical confidentiality
  • During night shifts, provide very close supervision of all patients in your care and do not sleep during service hours.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

You hold a Nursing Assistant Diploma or equivalent, you have professional experience of at least 2 years minimum in a similar function, experience of at least 2 years in a context of humanitarian medical intervention, a experience in terms of team management and supervision. You have good analytical, organizational, listening and significant empathy skills. You are dynamic, autonomous, rigorous, proactive.

LANGUAGES

  • Excellent written and oral expression in French and Creole
  • Good written and oral expression in English
