International Communications Specialist At Finn Church Aid

Finn Church Aid is looking for an international communications specialist for a permanent position starting on 1st of July or according to contract. The position is under FCA’s Service and Accountability Center in Helsinki. Working from Nairobi or Kampala, or from another location in Europe may be considered. Terms of employment for locally hired employees will be applied.

As a communications specialist, you have a passion for working on topics in the humanitarian and development field. You are an experienced writer and editor in English with the capacity to work with multimedia content, and you know how to write engaging press releases and manage media relations. Your work will focus on our African programme countries, including duty travel, and previous experience of the region and the international media field will be an advantage.

We expect from you:

– Native-level English proficiency for producing and editing impactful written content in English. Working knowledge of French or other language skills are considered an advantage.

– Applicable university degree and at least three years of working experience within communications or journalism.

– General knowledge of international affairs, humanitarian work, development cooperation and East Africa, and an interest in working with these topics in a multicultural environment.

– A proven track record of liaising with mainstream media and successfully pitching articles or story ideas, or extensive experience in working with various media outlet.

– Motivation and ideas for developing FCA’s communications and readiness to travel.

– Excellent teamwork and networking skills, strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate large-scale productions and processes.

– Good technical capacities and a basic understanding of visual communications is an advantage.

There will be a six-month probation period. The compensation is based on FCA salary scale and the candidate’s level of experience.
