The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of two years. At the end of the initial two-year contractual period, there are good prospects for conversion of the contract from a fixed-term to an open-ended employment contract. Employment location will be Bonn and/or Berlin, Germany.
Welthungerhilfe’s Communications Unit is responsible for ensuring that information from the organization’s project countries, Welthungerhilfe’s general work, and relevant development policy issues gain public media presence. As an International Media Officer, you will be responsible for Welthungerhilfe’s positioning in the American media by building an up-to-date media distribution list and establishing a network with relevant local media contacts.
Your responsibilities
- Establishment and maintenance of an up-to-date distribution list for relevant international media, in particular American media (print/online/TV/radio)
- Establishment of relevant media contacts in the USA
- Development of interesting thematic offers for international media
- Writing press releases for the American media market
- Positioning of articles/contributions in American media
- Arranging interviews with employees in the American media
- Participation in the CvD system – if possible
- Representation of Welthungerhilfe at events abroad
Your profile
- A relevant university or polytechnic degree or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
- Sound knowledge of the American media market
- Interest and joy in writing journalistic texts on your own responsibility
- Distinct ability to compile and actively place topic offers
- Independent, systematic and motivated working style
- Ability and willingness to work in a multicultural team (despite spatial separation)
- Good contacts within the American media
- Excellent spoken and written German and English language skills
