Position Title: Project Assistant

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub-Office (HoSO) in Cotabato and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme and Liaison Assistant, the successful candidate will support project implementation related to the health programming in Mindanao.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of the health project activities to facilitate the completion of assigned activities and functions.
  • Support the monitoring of implementation progress, including significant events or changes to the operational context that may impact IOM’s programming.
  • Assist with planning and evaluating IOM’s health education, promotion, and prevention activities in Mindanao.
  • Identity problems or deviations related to assigned activities and recommend appropriate solutions, as needed.
  • Conduct documentation of operational activities for reporting, visibility, and other communication requirements, as guided by the Senior Programme and Liaison Assistant.
  • Facilitate trainings, workshops, listening sessions and working group meetings, as needed.
  • Facilitate community engagement processes such as consultations, focus groups discussions, information campaigns and events, as directed by the Senior Programme and Liaison Assistant.
  • Prepare operational and activity reports based on achievements, problems encountered, and pertinent developments.
  • Liaise and communicate with relevant humanitarian and development actors, government authorities and other stakeholders operating in the area to enhance coordination.
  • Support preparation for meetings with government and other stakeholders, as directed by the Senior Programme and Liaison Assistant.
  • Undertake duty travels in support of the programme.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in the Public Health, Social Work, or related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum three years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed High School degree with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in health programming, such as Migration Health, Surveillance, Awareness Raising, Immunizations, Institutional/Community Capacity Building, Health Emergency Response and Management, a distinctive asset.
  • Experience in humanitarian or development operations and/or Government Social or Health Services.
  • Familiarity with the context of BARMM and surrounding areas of Mindanao.
  • Experience in liaising with government counterparts, including those in BARMM Ministries.
  • Experience with field operations and project implementation.

Skills

  • Coordination and liaison skills.
  • Database management and computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of the issues and programs related to COVID-19 and health policy at the National and Local (Mindanao) level is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Mindanao context and operational environment are a distinct advantage.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Filipino is required. Knowledge of Chavacano, Tausug, Yakan is desirable.
