Job Profile

The International Programme Funding and Officer (Trusts and Foundations) (IPFO-TF) works closely with programme and funding colleagues to develop high-quality programmes and projects that enable CAFOD and its partners to maximise income from Trusts and Foundations. Through this work s/he helps extend the reach and impact of CAFOD’s programmes in delivering positive and lasting change for some of the world’s poorest communities.

Job Scope

The IPFO-TF is based within the International Programme Funding and Business Innovation Unit. (IFBI) S/he leads on establishing, maintaining and strengthening relationships with key global and/or UK-based Trusts and Foundations; developing and driving donor funding engagement strategies; leading on proposal development and contract management; identifying new funding opportunities and fostering innovation and shared learning among colleagues and partners, including through the programme funding Community of Practice.

As part of implementing CAFOD’s No One Beyond Reach five-year strategy, you will hold responsibility for building relationships with and driving funding applications to high value Trusts and Foundations (including overseas) with long term potential to give CAFOD yearly or multi-year grants over £100,000 in size. You will grow your knowledge of CAFOD’s position as a grantee within the Trusts and Foundations landscape by developing funding proposals and reporting for medium-large existing grantmakers to CAFOD and exploring new prospects. You will also actively contribute to growing the Trust and Foundation income for CAFOD.

Donor lead responsibilities are a significant component of this role; the post-holder will hold and develop expertise on a portfolio of donors. S/he works with IFBI and funding colleagues within the Major Gifts and Philanthropy team, as well as with programme staff, thematic advisers and colleagues in the Finance, Information and Infrastructure, and Advocacy and Education Groups, to help build CAFOD’s reputation and grow income across an agreed donor portfolio. The post-holder may need to undertake some international travel to support overseas teams and partners with proposal development and contract management activities, as well as to meet with key donors and/or collaborate with INGOs and sister agencies within the Caritas Internationalis confederation.

Accountability

The post-holder reports to the Head of the Integrated Funding and Business Innovation Unit. S/he is not a budget holder but may carry out some supervision tasks for other staff members, consultants or volunteers. S/he is expected to work closely with the Trusts and Foundations Manager.
