The Hong Kong Red Cross’s International & Relief Service provides emergency disaster relief and recovery assistance to individuals affected by natural disasters, conflict and other humanitarian crises, regardless of their nationality, race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation. We are also dedicated to developing and implementing community resilience programmes to strengthen disaster preparedness in vulnerable communities.
Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for the overall management of HKRC-funded international and China-based disaster management programmes, with a focus on emergency response and preparedness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement and monitor international and China disaster relief and institutional preparedness programmes
- Develop and manage strategic plans for disaster response and institutional readiness programmes
- Ensure timely and effective execution of projects in close coordination with relevant overseas stakeholders
- Analyze programme data and information to identify areas to ensure continuous programme and service improvement
- Build and maintain impactful partnerships with funders, social service sector and Red Cross Movement partners
- Deliver on-site trainings and capacity building activities in collaboration with partners and stakeholders
- Support the team to create impactful social media/advocacy content that raises public awareness of overseas humanitarian works and HKRC relief efforts
- Undertake international travel and short-term field deployments when required
Requirements:
- University Degree Holder in any discipline, preferably in social science, international relationship or disaster management, or media and communications
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience, preferably with experience in social service or humanitarian sectors in overseas (mainland China & International) and /or International humanitarian organization based in Hong Kong
- Proven track record of success in planning and managing projects independently
- Good understanding on global and mainland China context, experience in institutional capacity building is a definite advantage
- Experience in advocacy and/or social media campaign is an asset
- Excellent in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
- Self-motivated, strong sense of responsibility, independent, with high cultural sensitivity
- Able to work in a multi- disciplinary team and under pressure
- Self-supported in computing systems
Contract period: 2 years
