SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the world’s leading cause of death, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
The work-study or internship will take place within the Blue Desk (Sahel), within the framework of the operations management. The Sahel office is responsible for monitoring missions in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Togo, Benin, Chad and Cameroon. The work-study student/intern will work under the supervision of the management controller and the deputy management controller and in support of the missions.
Job Description
MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE WORK-STUDY PROGRAM / INTERNSHIP
- Contribute to the review of accounting and financial management tasks
- Assist in the review and presentation of project proposals and financial reports
- Contribute to the regular updating of dashboards and monitoring tools
- Ensure the classification, archiving and centralization of financial documentation
- Facilitate communication between missions and headquarters on financial matters
FUNCTIONS
Accounting
- Support financial managers in all accounting tasks related to missions.
- Check the analytical and accounting imputations of all missions
- Assist mission financial coordinators to:
- Analytical allocation of head office invoices for mission purposes
- Analytical distribution of salaries/allowances, insurance costs, airfares and other travel expenses of expatriates.
- Contribute to year-end accounting closing (if necessary)
- Learn how to use accounting software (SAGA)
- Check contract settings (Excel file)
Financial management
- Mission support: daily management of questions from financial mission teams
- Contribute to the controls of internal financial management tools of missions (allocation table and budget monitoring)
- Contribute to the budgetary verification of proposals made to donors
- Contribute to the validation of interim and final financial reports of missions for donors
- Assist in the preparation of financial audits

Cash management:
- Prepare bank authorizations to be provided to field teams
- Track grant applications, payments and reimbursements by maintaining an internal tool
- Contribute to the validation of cash flow forecasts for missions submitted to headquarters before the transfer
- Contribute to the validation of payments from our project partners

If you will offer the following conditions
- Type of contract: work-study apprenticeship contract OR internship with mandatory internship agreement
- Monthly remuneration
Alternation: Monthly remuneration is calculated according to national prerogatives which vary according to age and number of years of apprenticeship
Internship: compensation of €4.90/hour calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence during the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)

Public transport covered 50% by SI
Meal vouchers up to €8.90/effective day, with SI participation at 60%
Paid leave policy : 2 paid leaves per month
Contract duration: 1 or 2 years work-study / 6 months internship
PROFILE
- Master’s student with a management component and preferably an awareness of international and humanitarian issues
- Good command of French (oral/written); command of English appreciated
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Proactive and critical mind
- Ability to organize and plan effectively
- Interpersonal skills and diplomacy
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure
- Genuine commitment to the principles and work of Solidarités International
