Who are we ? :
Inter Aide is an association specializing in carrying out concrete development aid programs, carried out with particularly deprived families living in rural areas.
In 2023, Inter Aide manages 51 programs spread across seven countries (Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Malawi, Madagascar, Mozambique and Sierra Leone). Inter Aide has been working in Malawi with rural communities since 1992. The association is present in 10 of the country’s 28 districts, in the Central and Southern regions.
Inter Aide is looking for an intern to complete the technical-economic elements already obtained on peanut and soybean crops in order to better understand the issues surrounding their cultivation for small farmer families, and to produce technical sheets making it possible to better model the effects of the adoption of these cultures.
The mission :
You will be based in a rural environment in the town of Mitundu, with frequent trips to villages located approximately 30 km from the track. Your activities will be supervised by the manager of the Mitundu agricultural program, and by the Sector Manager based in Lilongwe, both agronomists. The project has 2 employees responsible for monitoring and evaluation (1 investigator and 1 supervisor). You will be required to accompany members of the team in the field and they will be able to translate conversations from the local language (Chichewa) into English.
As such, you will provide your support in the following way:
- In carrying out an inventory of existing and missing data;
- The definition of a work plan for the collection of missing data and the precise content of the final renderings of the technical-economic study;
- The establishment of protocols and tools for carrying out additional surveys and conducting surveys with farming families;
- Support for the processing and analysis of data collected in the field;
- The organization of work and feedback workshops with project technicians;
- The production of technical-economic sheets;
- Revision of training tools and manuals for teams and villagers;
- Completion of an internship report.
Required profile :
- You are a student looking for an end-of-studies internship: Master level in agricultural development (agronomist engineer);
- You have advanced knowledge of economic analysis methods for cropping systems, agrarian diagnostics, etc.;
- You master English level B2 (oral and written);
- You have listening and teamwork skills;
- You have a taste for the field, you are dynamic and flexible;
- You are resistant to cultural and social isolation.
Conditions :
