General presentation
In a context of multiplication, intensification and diversification of social challenges and crisis risks, the French Red Cross is acting to unconditionally protect and relieve people in vulnerable situations and build, with them, their resilience. The association thus strives to help populations cope with these collective and individual crises.
With its 75,000 volunteers and 17,000 employees in France and abroad, the French Red Cross offers places and opportunities to get involved in taking care of others and oneself. It prioritizes its activities around 3 missions:
- Prevent and educate | Observe, prepare, train and mobilize local solidarity to reduce risks, allow everyone to deploy their potential and learn to protect themselves and others.
- Protect | Provide assistance to people in situations of collective crisis or life breakdown and take care of physical and psychological injuries.
- Recover by reestablishing social connections | Give everyone the keys to their recovery through their participation in society.
The International Operations Department In a troubled world, marked by complex crises and an explosion of humanitarian needs, the French Red Cross aims to be, internationally, an essential organization in the fields of health and disaster management, fully part of the Movement, working with and with the National Societies of the countries of intervention for the protection and resilience of the most vulnerable, at the heart of global crises and territories in decline.
Within the International Operations Department, the Disaster Risk Management unit’s mission is to contribute to strengthening the Movement’s preparedness and response capacity and the resilience of vulnerable populations in the face of disasters and crises.
