IR Values Programme Capacity Development Lead At Islamic Relief

Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) is actively recruiting for the position of ‘IR Values Programme Capacity Development Lead’ to be based from its office in Birmingham, UK. The organisation is currently working to a hybrid working model.

Serving the Humanitarian and International Development Sector and its parent Islamic Relief Worldwide – it collects, coordinates and delivers compelling HAD in action content and messaging around the globe to promote the training, research and talent development services HAD offers to retain existing customers and attract new customers. The Division leverages digital platforms, public relations, events and the media, all in line with HAD’s vision, mission and strategy. It is envisioned to be a hub where humanitarian and development theories and practice are studied, examined and developed.

The purpose of the role is to contribute to the delivery of the Islamic Relief Values Programme, which aims to embed the IR Values across the whole organisation. You will be responsible for leading on and delivering the capacity development components of the programme under the direction of the Programme Manager, to ensure all staff can effectively implement the Islamic Relief values in their daily work. You are required to have proven experience in the delivery of training and capacity-building programmes, in addition to personal organisation, communication skills, and knowledge of the international humanitarian sector.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Proven ability to analyse both group and individual learning needs
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver excellent quality, engaging presentations and interactive training
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of using digital communications
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and time management
  • Proven track record of updating skills and willingness to undergo and participate in identified training that will improve individual and team performance
  • Well-developed level of skills in the design and production of training materials (for both online and face-to-face delivery)
  • A professional or academic qualification in a training/teaching-related field, and/or educated to graduate level (masters added value), preferably in a social sciences or international development-related field
  • Understanding of international development issues
  • Knowledge of the Muslim charitable sector and/or international humanitarian NGO sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of values implementation
  • Must have extensive experience of delivering training courses across a range of topics (both as a lead trainer and a co-trainer)
  • Understanding and experience in facilitating learning among different cultures
  • Experience of work (paid or unpaid) in the humanitarian sector, civil society organisations and/or international development
  • Proven experience in producing updates, internal reports, and high-quality reporting
